Lore wrote:Dalepir’s (Da-le-pir) a long legged fast moving species of wild Equine, often built like a Marwari or Akhal-Teke.
With long and tall lengthy legs and a slim but muscular and fit build that can carry them through the plains they call home. One defining characteristic of the species is that they don't have normal equine tail’s; but instead are seen with 1 to 3 unicorn or cat tails. Another defining characteristic is their horns and tusks. Male Dalepir’s have large singular horns with upwards facing tusks, while females have very small to no horns and downward facing tusks.
Much like that of horses Dalepir’s travel in large herds with up to 30 individuals; with about 1 mature male to every 5 mature females. The species has been recorded to have unusual coat colors mimicking that of other animals, but no photos or videos have ever been recorded of such animals. Dalepir’s stand anywhere from 16 to 18 hands the average height being about 17 hands. Dalepir’s have been estimated to live as long as a hundred years, but so far have only been truly proven to live into their mid to late fifties. Dalepir’s are omnivores eating everything from small rodents and birds to grass and leaves, unlike most equid's. One more thing that sets this species apart from other equines is the fact that each individual expresses spotting patterns!
These spots are often to referred to as "Fisher Spots", each Dalepir's Fisher Spots are unique much like the stripes of zebras their never the same! Most fisher spots look very much like BC spots seen in normal horses, but they can have patterns like that of our Mascot Folami or very uncommon mutated spots! Some examples of mutated spots are like that of Leopard, Jaguar, Serval, or Zanzibar leopard's spots, though these are rarely seen especially out side of captivity
With all this in mind they have often been connected to gods in different cultures and belief systems, and often herds are hunted and their coats, tails, horns and tusks are sold. Due to the pressure from poaching they have decreased drastically in number leading to the founding of the IDRO (International Dalepir Rescue Organization), whose main focus is to rescue Dalepir’s in need and work to preserve the species as a whole.
They oftentimes adopt out Dalepir’s so that they can make space to rescue more, tough they are not riding horses with their slim frame and weak backs they cant hold the weight; but they can participate in liberty and pull wagons and sleighs with ease.
So do you think you're ready to bring home your own Dalepir?
