Name; Sola
Prompt; 274 words
The majority of the aktego on the planet I’m developing did not arrive on the planet naturally- they are a few generations removed from a spacebound colony whose research satellite crashed to the surface of Ir’alda’s ice plain, stranding them there. Those that survived have lived and worked within the hull of their fallen ship, written off as lost by the humans that observed them while developing a society of their own.
This aktego is the companion of one researcher who decides to look into the lost colony- and, upon finding them, begins intensive observation of individuals and how they’re adapting to their environment. This aktego, Sola, has been raised largely separate from her own kind- and though the bond she has with her researcher is strong, she is deeply curious about the strange, hardy aktego she sees on the researcher’s monitors. It is frightfully easy for her to take one of the research station’s pods down to the planet, hoping to mingle with her own kind at last. For the aktego on the planet’s surface, however, it is terrifying and strange to have another capsule (like a smaller version of their own Starhull) fall from the sky, bearing an aktego the color of the night sky inside it.
Personality notes- Sola is curious and eager, and kind of a perfect example of the “booksmart but not streetsmart” archetype. She is able to offer great insight into the workings of technology- things the colony aktego had lost knowledge of as the Starhull’s systems died off- but was naive in her jump down to the planet, not reckoning just how unforgiving the environment would be.
