Lambicorn name: Murpy
Gender: Male
Prompt:

When Murpy thought about it, he didn’t have many fears. Infact, he only had one fear, but it was a doozy, and honestly kinda stupid (Shh!! Not too loud, he’s right up there!) He was scared of towels. You see, when he was just a little guy, he would terrorize the local village. He would run in, howling like a mad man, and scare everyone into their houses. It was all fun and games until the villagers came up with a plan. They would find old blankets, sheets, and towels and hang them up on low clothes lines around the village. The villagers waited and watched in their house for hours. Suddenly, along came little Murpy, yowling and howling about. With his head held high, excited to play his game, he pranced right into… a towel. It was a little dish towel, but it startled him, making him run into… another towel. It was a bath towel this time, bigger and slightly thicker. He yelped, running into more and more hanging towels (the villagers had a lot for some reason). Running and stumbling about, towels covering his face and back, he took one big step and… latched his claws into a large Egyptian cotton beach towel. Murpy couldn’t see, blinded by towels, but he knew by the feel fabric that it was infact a towel (he would find out later it was Egyptian cotton). He let out a wimpy screech and fell to the ground, rolling to hopefully get the towels off. It worked, he was free after a few minutes, but not before making a fool of himself.

This was years ago, so you’d think Murpy would be over the whole towel thing by now. But no, touching a towel, or something that felt like one, would send him into a frenzy. But again, this was years ago. By now he had made up with the villagers and would join them for the occasional village barbecue nights. Something you should know before we go on is that the town was a seafaring town, with beaches galore, a beautiful little place honestly (minus the history of Were-Lambie attacks). One day, before a beach bonfire, Murpy was walking along the shore next to the water, when he heard a nearby Lambie crying for their Lambaby who was drifting away in the water (the Lambaby can swim, don’t worry, but the current was tough). Without a second thought Murpy jumped into the water and saved the little Lambaby. All the Lambie onlookers cheered! Murpy had saved the day, when suddenly a Lambie that had just moved into town walked over and threw a towel over Murpy’s back. He blacked out and would wake up in a neck brace at the hospital.

Murpy had gotten so startled that he ran head first into a wall and sprained his neck. He wasn't sure if he was embarrassed or if it was just the concussion talking. So remember kids, towels are no laughing matter, and the killers of joy. (real)

Lambicorn name: Atlas

Gender: Male

Prompt:
For as long as he can remember, he's been terrified of something that probably doesn't even exist. When he was a lambaby, a story was told almost every night as something for bedtime: the legend of a great beast in the moon. Little did the ones telling it know, that such a simple little thing spawned from the story would cause irreparable damage to one little Lambaby.

The legend said that long ago there was no moon in the sky until there came a day when a great dark shadow passed across the sky causing mass panic across the land. That night when the Lambicorns looked up at the night sky? There was a strange glowing circle lighting up the darkness. Some panicked assuming it was the end of the world as they knew it, while others merely relaxed under its gentle glow. There were a select few who saw this thing as a great egg that held the spawn of some great beast. And it quickly spread that one day the beast would hatch AND bring doom and destruction upon the world below.

Many times the legend was boiled down to "if you don't behave the moon beast will get you." A simple way of trying to get naughty lambabies to behave that would work on the younger ones while the older ones were unconvinced. Atlas however was different, it was still an excellent way to get him to behave even when he grew older. Who could have guessed that such a silly little thing would have such a damaging effect? It did so much damage that he can't even bear to look at the moon because what if it suddenly splits in two and the beast comes for him?! Such a silly fear for the moon is not an egg but even with that knowledge? Atlas is still terribly afraid of the legend that it holds the great beast deep within

Lambicorn name: Farkas
Gender: Male
Prompt:

Cages.

Farkas's life began in a cage. Or, at least, his first memory did. He was but a young lambaby, crammed into a wire contraption far too small for him. But the man in charge of the travelling "curiosity cabinet" didn't care about his needs or his comfort. He only cared about how much money he was making. The "wolf boy", they had called him. A lambicorn with the body of a wolf, crowned by a piece of the moon. He learned to dance for his dinner. If he performed well, he would earn a his keep. He didn't hate the work, truly. But the cage... the cage left him trembling with fright. "For everyone's safety," the ringmaster had said. "You could be dangerous."

As F arkas grew, the cage grew with him. Wire bars turned to steel, and the days stretched endlessly into dark and lonely nights. It was on one of these nights that he learned the truth - the curiosity cabinet had lost all its funding. It was being shut down. But where was a boy to go? The circus life was all he'd ever known. Though the close-quarters confines of the cage made his paws shake and his heart run rampant in his chest, what more was there to life?

He didn't have a choice - it was either stay with the failing troupe and be roped into more of their schemes, or break his tiny world apart and try to make it on his own. After their final show, Farkus knew he had to act. He mustered all the strength his large, muscular form could manage, and leaned with all his might against the metal walls of his prison. They gave a great groan that was sure to alert the others, and yet... they bent. Just enough for him to slip out. One paw through the bars and he was on his way, never to be caged again. Little did he know, he would break his own vow willingly.

Sunrise City - the circus's final destination. The cheery name promised a new start for Farkus. But he soon found that names can be misleading. Society is filled with expectations. Bills, jobs, taxes... no matter how far he ran, he couldn't outrun responsibility. Not while living in Sunrise City. A place where survival needs aren't a right, but a privilege. A place where the nobility lounged in the lap of luxury while everyone else languished. A place where even those who can find work live day to day; payday to payday. Many found themselves making the choice between food or shelter - they couldn't afford both. And Farkas was no exception. His intimidating size and predatory features made potential employers run the other way. And those who managed to see past his physical differences rejected him solely because he didn't have "experience". But how was he supposed to get any experience if no one would hire him?

It was then that he saw society for what it really was. The biggest cage of all. But the bars weren't built of wire or steel - they were of laws and greed. How did other lambicorns go about their days, walking around as if this was all okay? Did everyone have their heads in the sand? Lambies were actively starving around them; scrounging in rubbish for something to eat. In the winter, the unlucky ones froze. And not a single other lambicorn seemed to notice. These were the invisible people - the ones deemed too "different" or too "useless" by their own society to fit the mould. But if Farkas could break his cage... maybe they could too.

Farkas found refuge in the lands that belonged to no one. The wild lands; the lands of the green and growing things. He learned the rhythms of the river and the song of approaching storms. He learned which berries were gifts of the forest, and which were tricks. But most importantly, he learned to coexist with the wild and nameless creatures. He built a home for himself there - a home no one could cage, where no one took too much. And he wasn't the only one. The invisible people learned of his camp, and one by one, they broke the bars of their cages. Farkas taught them to be free again - to help others for the sole purpose of helping, without expecting anything in return. To care for those who could not care for themselves. On moonless nights, they sing to the sky. And in their song is a promise.

They will never be caged again.

(WHEW went a little overboard with this one lol. I hope I didn't stray too far from the main theme! I just let my imagination run wild here lmao)

Lambicorn name: Whiskey
Gender: Male
Prompt: Despite his gruff look, it was clear he had a gentle heart, and there was something about the shift in his expression that let onto that. "My biggest fear?" He let out a sigh, then a deep, soft chuckle.

"Well, tough as I wanna be, I got eyes on me always. My daughter, Whippersnapper, lovely she was, lives in the stars now. Told me she'd always keep watch over me, guess she wasn't wrong. I still feel those judgy little eyes, although I miss getting to see the smirk that goes with 'em." He smirked, chased the thought down with a sip of root beer, then continued on.

"There's a star out there that I call hers, the only one I ever see out of my bedroom window. Maybe I had never paid enough attention before, but I swear I never saw that one while she was still here. And every night, I say goodnight to her. Most evenings I'll tell her about my day. The cloudy nights are a bit tough; I don't like not being able to see that star. But hey, I'm sure she needs a break from me every once in a while." A nice hearty laugh followed that thought. Then another sip of root beer.

"But you asked about my fear, didn't ya? Well, when I can't see that star, I start to worry that it burned up out there. And sure, maybe it is just a star, but it's also what I got left of her. So, to answer your question, it's that. Losing her star. That's my biggest fear." He finished his drink, and as much as he tried to hide it, a burp managed to escape him. He blushed under his brown fur and began to apologize, but it wasn't loud enough to cover up the sound of laughter that came from that star.
