[redacted] chose Tsuo to lead a border patrol, the reasoning behind such a decision she can only speculate at. Perhaps it was a way for gain some trust and responsibility in the clan after her unruly and difficult apprenticeship; always slipping away during hunts, causing trouble at the border with other clans, and being a bit too experimental with the local predators. Instead of focusing on doing a good job and gaining some reputation amongst the warriors, Tsuo figured this would be the best opportunity to explore that new grotto to the south beyond the small creek.
The clan was getting a bit crowded and food surplus was starting to thin. A new addition to the border would be perfect to balance out these problems. She proposed this idea to [redacted], but they just shook their head and told her to stay within clan borders and a proper patrol will be formed once more cats were feeling better (there was an outbreak of hazelcough). While she wasn't the biggest cat in the clan, she was paired up with Ravenfur and Quarrybloom, both experienced and capable hunters. They would be fine even if a Gravebone attacked them, and one larger than a cat hasn't been spotted in at least a few moons. Tsuo sighs but accepts the order...for now.
Convincing Ravenfur to break [redacted's] order wasn't easy, but with Quarrybloom totally onboard with Tsuo's plan, it was two to one. They were just going to take a quick peek, nothing crazy. She told him to think of it as a scouting mission and the information that they gather will be invaluable to the clan. It was all for the clan. That much, Tsuo still believes, even if everything else was selfish on her part. The Gravebone-dog was on them in an instant. Quarrybloom was it's first target, barely getting a cry for help out before it's jaws snapped bone. Ravenfur and Tsuo started to fight back, not wanting to leave their companion behind, but the dog was too strong and both cats sustained severe wounds. It took every muscle in her body to finally turn and run. If only she had listened, if only she was stronger. If, if, if. Tsuo doesn't think Ravenfur will ever forgive her, or if she will ever forgive herself, the scars on her body are proof of that.
