Username: Rylf
Dragon Name: Boler
Gender: Male
Colony: Isle of ZionPrompt: “Ren, this isn’t a good idea..” muttered Boler under his breath, his ears constantly swiveling every direction to look for signs of danger. His breaths came quick and shallow in the dark of night, every skittering bug or hooting owl inciting a tiny squeak and jolt from Boler.
“You seriously have to get over some of this fear, Boler. It’s natural to be cautious, but you don’t even enjoy your life anymore..” Renai’s pity-filled gaze swept to Boler briefly before returning to their path ahead. He kept his head low as he moved, also listening but not with the anxiety that rolled off Boler in waves. Ren gestured for Boler to keep up as he whispered, “we’re almost there, I promise it will be worth it.”
Despite his quiet protests, Boler continued to follow Ren until they broke out if the treeline, his anxiety building tenfold at being so exposed. His whole body shook but he trudged along behind Ren, fearing being left behind more than the open sky. The pair made their way across the cool sand under a sky full of twinkling stars toward the water’s edge. Boler held his breath as Ren stopped just before touching the sea, looking back at Boler with glee and excitement clear in his eyes, “you ready, Boler?” he whispered happily.
“I…I guess so,” Boler responded wearily, only a moment passing before he watched Ren carefully put his forepaw in the water and swish it back and forth. Boler’s eyes widened in surprise as the water glowed a fluorescent green, the ripples cascading out in a beautiful display of dancing color in the night. “Woooowww,” Boler found himself saying, his shaking slowing as he moved forward to scoop up a bit if the water, confused and dazzled at the strange display.
“This happens every year for a few weeks,” Renai murmured to Boler, still alert to any predators now that he could see Boler was completely distracted, “Idk why it happens, but it’s beautiful, Boler. The world isn’t JUST scary. It’s amazing too.”
Boler ran his claws over the water to watch the colors dance again, murmuring in awe, “it truly IS amazing.”
