You heard, but as you continue to drive you realize that its hard to understand with the thick accent. Its getting dark, you still haven't reached your destination. You faintly see a figure in an poorly harvested corn field, pull over, roll down your window- making out the individual. Digging. You cant tell what for, but as hesitation is about the grasp your throat, you call out. No reply, you shout again. Again, until more voices overwhelm yours.

"Oh, hey there!" A cheery voice jolts you to focus again. A big grin flashes your way as he pulls an earbud out. "Didn't hear yah, eheh. Ya look lost- 'ere lemme take a look...where you headed?" You hardly acknowledge the kind stranger yet meekly describe the location you plan to go. After a few minutes of letting the other direct his paw across the roads, he sends you off with a smile and nod. You slowly peel off the side of the road, taking one last look in your rearview mirror. Back to digging they went.
