He took shelter into the barn having lost his mother, hoping to find comfort in the other horses he could hear and smell after a long night running and searching. He was later found snuggled into an empty bag of feed by the stable hand in the morning.

It is assumed that Twinkles herd was taken over by a new stallion, his mother rejecting the newcomer and attempting to protect Twinkle with her life, eventually losing it to severe injury.
Becoming orphaned, Twinkle was likely in immediate danger of the stallion since he was not his own. How he managed to escape is a miracle, and we are glad he made his way to our stables where he has a permanent home.
