Prompt 1:
Azalea had been wandering about the carnival, exploring booths and playing games. She had made a point to check on her horse whenever possible. Still, Skinwalker seemed more than happy to graze on the sweet grass that grew in the area, occasionally socializing with the other horses at the carnival. She eventually ended up near the edges of the carnival, taking a few minutes to relax and rest her feet as she sat in the shade of a tree.
Azalea had heard that some wild horses were wandering in the fields near the carnival, that they were unkempt and wild- but hadn’t shown any aggression and some attendees had even taken some home.
It took her by surprise to see an older stallion wandering nearby, eyeing the spot where the carnival workers were storing apples for the candy apple booth. She watched the horse with interest as he slowly inched his way closer to the apples, seeming like he was trying to be subtle. She smiled, deciding that maybe she would try to bring one of the wild horses home that year.

Prompt 2:
Azalea started slow, waiting for the stallion to give up on the apples (as they were fenced in) before buying a couple. She returned to the spot where she had last seen the horse, whistling to get the stallion’s attention once she found him. He stiffened, his ears turning towards her before pinning back slightly, stamping his hooves. Azalea crouched and rolled the apple towards the horse, who skittered back a few steps, looking at her apprehensively.
Azalea stayed low, waiting, and eventually, the horse approached the apple. He grabbed it off of the ground with a quick motion, his tail flicking as he ate. Azalea smiled, quickly cutting her second apple in half and tossing one half towards the horse again. This time it was much closer to her, and she stayed still afterward, happy to wait as long as the horse needed.
It only took the stallion a few minutes to approach, snapping up the apple half and crunching away. Azalea slowly stood up, tossing the last half of the apple to him, watching happily as the stallion ate it. Hopefully, he would realize she didn’t mean him any harm.
Azalea used Skinwalker for the next half of her plan, carefully herding the stallion toward the corrals the carnival had available for the horses. He went fairly easy, nervous about the horse and human behind him, but curious about what was happening.
Azalea let out a relieved sigh once the stallion was safely in the corral, putting Skinwalker away and grabbing a loose halter as well as a stick and string. She used the stick first, keeping it low and approaching the stallion slowly and using the stick to rub his withers and neck, not wanting to get too close yet and make him panic.
Azalea worked with him for a few hours, slowly moving closer, Skinwalker watching them curiously. Eventually she was able to pet him with her hands, the halter draped over her shoulder. She let the stallion sniff and inspect her, snorting quietly. He seemed gentle, more curious than anything, and she was relieved that he had such a docile personality.
It didn’t take much longer before Azalea was able to get the halter on the stallion, he seemed hesitant, unfamiliar of things going over his face and ears. But he relaxed as Azalea spoke gently to him, and Azalea beamed once the halter was buckled, patting his neck.

Prompt 3:
Azalea was very proud of the stallion’s progress over the next couple of days. She had found that he was very fond of being groomed, and turned to stare, stomping his hoof, whenever Azalea stopped brushing him. And he was a stunning horse once he was all cleaned up, even with his age.
She had slowly introduced him to a lightweight saddle, pleased with how well he accepted the cinch. Azalea doubted she would ride him herself very often, definitely not until she had gotten him fully checked out by her usual vet to make sure he could carry the weight, but at the very least he would accompany her and her other horses on trail rides, or maybe work as one of their lesson horses for younger kids.
But until then, she would get him used to being under saddle, and he took to it well. He was stiff at first, giving a few small bucks, kicking at the cinch as he adjusted to wearing it. After a few rounds of cantering and getting his energy out, he seemed just fine. Azalea was so pleased with how well he was doing, learning what was expected of him in record time. She had high hopes for him going forward, and was excited to bring him home with her and keep working with him under saddle.
