Two kits race past you, squealing like schoolgirls heading towards the mines. not being mindful of where their going you can hear them as they yell to each other. "FINALLY that old sima is away from the mine entrance, thank goodness they need to sleep during the night!" one shouts racing ahead, quickly picking up speed. "YEAH and now we can finally go and explore and solve the mystery of the curse!!" the other shouts, franticly speeding up to catch their friend. you shake your head but decide that you follow them. unbeknownst to you, these kits hide a secret.
these kits are determined to find the cause of the curse! but why could they be wearing masks? and why only go at night? why do these kits hide during the day? why do they only come out at night?kit 1 - moon

The moon has always been a friend. It is comforting, whispering reassurances through it's gentle glow. As it wains, the whispers grow more frantic. More.. violent. It is on these nights, when the sky is dark, that two masks lay rest upon eachother in nests of moss and twigs. The starlight invisible from where they sit within the recesses of the cave.
It is on these nights, when all that gives is the stars, maddened cackles and giggles can be heard echoed between the trees and against the rocks surrounding the town. These nights.. the town's folk keep their oil lamps lit in their windows. Devils are hunting.
Regarded as merely stories told of those gone senile or of drunkards bumbling their way home, the tales of these twin devils are treated like folklore. Talked about in hushed whispers as though speaking of them will label one as.. "crazy". To those who walk amongst the land of the awake and bathed in sunlight, these are merely cryptids. Yet precaution is always taken on darkened nights of the new moon.
All other nights the masks rest upon small faces, suppressing monstrous forms. Hidden under these simple wooden masks are the cause of frightful tales told to naughty children. Long ago, when these kits first came into being, these masks were crafted of a powerful magic in hopes it might help them lead normal lives. Such a hope was lost on souls born corrupt.
In their youth, they terrorized the town. The masks hung around their necks like broken chains.
With this having failed, power's beyond the mortal conspired against these demons. When dawn's light struck them, they screamed and coiled back against it. A curse all their own had been laid upon them: the sun would kill them. Only when the bore their masks upon their faces could they withstand the bright rays enough to linger in shadowed light. But never for long.
At dawn's break, their fleeing shadows can be glimpsed as they return to their den. Kept aback until the next moon's rise.

Rest in peace, baby girl.

not even time can shut them up.

so better things can fall together.
