ElysianClan had only been formed recently when she, Pinedance, and Jumpingstrike had split off from their former clan in an act of rebellion. However, ever since Jumpingstar had been made leader and received his nine lives, he and Pinedance had been rather... agitated at each other. Jumpingstar wanted more cats to join their ranks, but Pinedance would not hear of it.
"They don't believe in
Starclan!" Pinedance hissed, his usually level-headed personality at its limits, "How could we ever accept clanmates that are so blind to our ways? It simply wouldn't work, Jumpingstar! It's not what Starclan wants!"
Jumpingstar pawed at the ground, frowning.
"I'm sorry, Pinedance, but you don't know that. Kittypets could be valuable clanmates, despite our differences. After all, Starclan didn't step in to stop our clan's cruelty, nor did they help us when we fled our home. If they're so unconcerned with what goes on in the clans, should we really be so dedicated to their will?"
The medicine cat let out a rather enraged hiss, and Bouncehawk knew she had to intervene. She scrambled to her feet, squirrel forgotten, and padded over to where her clanmates were arguing. It was a Deputy's duty to solve problems in their clan; so she should at least give it a try.
"Pinedance, stand down." She ordered softly, flicking her tail slightly as the white cat let his hackles fall, "I understand your frustrations, both of you. But JumpingStar is right; we need to gain clanmates. Would it hurt to give it a try? Surely some of them would be willing to join us, if we explain it to them."
She turned towards Jumpingstar, gazing at him with a pleading look in her eyes.
"But Jumpingstar, we can't give up on Starclan yet. They care about us; even if they can't intervene, they'll be watching over us, I'm sure of it. For Elysianclan to succeed, we need to trust in them."
She let out a sigh, before standing tall and continuing.
"This is what I propose; we go with Jumpingstar's plan. Still, we'll never go against our ancestors. We'll teach new members about our beliefs, and keep our traditions alive. Even if we change our ways, we don't have to give up our beliefs."
The cats in front of her were quiet, before Pinedance let out a reluctant sigh.
"Fine. If you both think it's best... but I'm still not sure about this idea."
Jumpingstar nodded, smiling at his friend.
"Thank you, Pinedance. I promise, if it doesn't work out, we'll find another way. I won't let you down."
