An ragged mouse is sitting on a rock, clutching a piece of old paper in his grimy hands. A long scar runs down one eye, covering it. It is a cloudy gray now. Clearly he's half blind. You notice his boot is torn, and to your horror, one of his legs is replaced with a piece of wood at the knee. His whiskers are all bent and crooked, and his snores, in the night, seem like a dog's growl. The only thing unsavage seeming is a little picture tucked in his cloak. You are about to examine it, when he wakes up with a snort. You wonder for a second if his own snoring woke him up. Turning his shaggy neck, he notices you. Beckoning you forward, he tries to start up a chat. After talking for a bit, you find out his name is One Eyed Skitter, and he used to do all kinds of adventures. After telling you three stories about his previous work, you are enjoying them, but softly remind him about the adventure YOU will be beginning. He nodded, and asks you about yourself. You say you want to explore, find trinkets, whatever really.
After listening intently he says,
"Well, then, little traveler you be? Wanting into this old forest? Ah, yes. So you will need this." He hands you the piece of paper. Opening it cautiously, you find its a map. The old mouse sits up. He looks you in the eye. "Now, you know you can die right? It's very dangerous out there. As you can probably see." Skitter added wryly, gesturing to his scar and wooden leg. You hesitate for a moment. He was likely right. you needed to choose carefully..
