This mustang was actually not originally wild. They grew up in a barn, but one day - when they were already fully grown - they accidentally escaped.

They were being driven to a race, and as the race was far away, the human driving them there had to use the restroom at one point. They took a break at the side of the road, and in that short break, the mustang happened to notice that the door was not entirely locked..

Bored out of their mind from the long drive and lack of mental stimulation, they started nudging the door's opening mechanism and easily got free. All they wanted to do was take a walk and come back later, but the human - however that might be possible... - did not realize how light the horse container was that they were driving around now, and just sped away.

The mustang was surprised... what to do now?! They were only out in the wild for a few days before the barn's owner found them once again, to both parties' delight.
Most memorable was trying out the taste of all those wild berries once they got hungry. The grass out there wasn't very good, so berries it was! They tasted so sweet, but also had a dangerous vibe to them.. after all, they could also be poisonous, couldn't they?

Rogue grew up wild and free running at his mothers side. Learning from her and all the wise mares and the greatest lead stallion. While at least in his young mind, he spent his two years in a relatively happy carefree way. And then the day came his father sent him out into the world to make his own way and hopefully win a herd of his own.

Rouge did not jump straight in to lead stallion life, he actually joined a band of a few other colts. While they spent time learning from each other, meaning they mostly spared and practiced the moves. So they would be ready when their day came to get a herd of their own. This was the herd of horses he was roundup with and he always looks back fondly on those sparring sessions. And wonders what happened to his friends and there is a small part of him that daydreams about that happy wild time and as time passes. It is tinted more with rose colored glasses as he forgets the loss and hardship that can come with such freedom.

prompt:
Douglas always loved the wild, the wind, and space. Trees as far as the eyes could see, the shining stars at night in a cloudless sky. He grew up running with the breeze, sleeping with the stars. Watching as the sun rises above the trees, creating long stretching shadows. Nothing could compare.
Until he met a human he was free to do as he pleased, every day all day long. But he learned to behave in time and become accustomed to strange things and strange ways. Now, he has come to terms with his new life and is happy where he is, but it is nothing of the life he use to live and if he could go back, he would. To that easy life of sunshine and stars.

Boolean didn't actually enjoy the wild as much as one might think. It was all he knew, so he couldn't say he hated it exactly. Always having to watch the herd's back from predators stressed him out immensely. Foraging for feed was always a pain, and he didn't like that his next meal wasn't always guaranteed. Not to mention fighting with the head stallion when he was old enough! He lost, of course, and was chased off to find a herd of his own. This was when he encountered the humans. When humans came in and roped him, he thought it was the end. In reality, it was the beginning for him.

He loves his home on the ranch. He loves that he never has to look for his food, it's always there waiting for him. (Not to mention treats! What wonderful little things, he loves cookies and molasses blocks.) He doesn't have to sleep out in the open, he has a nice little place to lay down at night. The other horses took a little bit to accept him, but no one challenged him over females and tried to run him off. The humans were kind to him, brushed his itchy winter coat off and bathed him with portable water. Injuries were never a big deal and treated promptly, as opposed to having to heal over naturally out in the wild.

Boolean wouldn't trade his new home for anything, especially not the wild!

Prompt:

Russ was born to a mare in a rather laid-back herd of mustangs, he was small and weak and often hid behind her legs from this strange new place he had found himself in, taking comfort in her presence and knowing somehow that she would keep him safe.

His sire didn't care much about him, he had much more important things to do such as lead the herd to food and water consistently, keep an eye out for predators and fend off roaming stallions looking to take his spot, so Russ didn't have much of a relationship with the leader of his herd.

When he got older, he found himself wanting to start a new life away from his herd and knew that his father wouldn't allow him to stay much longer, so Russ wandered away in search of his calling, though not everything was sunshine and daisies for this stallion.

Russ knew he was going to face hardships, he just didn't expect this many- He would be chased by predators, picked on by stallions both with and without herds, he would fall and sometimes even flat out collapse; be it from the distances he has walked or from injury, but he always got back up.

He never found his new home, he had roamed for years and years looking for it, he knew better than to try to return to his old herd as they'd likely not even recognize him anymore, but something inside of him was screaming to give up.

He approached a strange field that smelled of both horses and something else, wondering if he would be welcomed into this herd or chased off once more, though to Russ's surprise, he found himself roped and being led somewhere else.

Russ fought, he bit and stomped and tried to make himself seem as large and terrifying as he could to the strangely dressed horses and the creatures upon their backs, but truth be told, Russ tired out quickly and found himself surrendering to his fate.

He ended up mixed up with some other horses and being looked at and observed by the horse-riding creatures he has come to know as Humans, and realized soon that perhaps this wasn't so bad.

They fed him every day, he had fresh and clean water to drink and he fought off predators no longer, and eventually Russ came to realize he could honestly, genuinely live the rest of his life like this without complaint.

He eventually found himself somewhere called Polar North Ranch where he and many other animals resided, and he was utterly thrilled.

He had seemingly endless acres to roam, new friends and humans who called him a new name and stroked his soft fur and mane, he could rest here without worry and without fighting for his life daily as he did in the wild.
