Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness. With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.
Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.
Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.
Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.
Figured you lovelies need more comps! To win this soft bab, tell me what the one item is they refuse to stop carrying, even during shows?

Show Name: RRS Bedtime Story
Barn Name: Story
Gender: Mare
Height: 12 hh
Halter Color: Something soft, otherwise artist's choice!
Prompt: This cuddly little darling, found here! Story was born a bit premature and spent her first few weeks bundled up in all manner of fluffy things. One of the stablehands decided she needed a plush toy to go with all of her blankets and pillows. They brought her a stuffed sheep, fondly nicknamed Snoozle, and it was love at first sight. Story's carried Snoozle around with her ever since. The two are inseparable, even if Story does look a smidge silly trotting down the trail with a battered stuffed sheep perched atop her rump. dignity is overrated anyway

Show Name: Pastel Watercolor
Barn Name: Pastel
Gender: Stallion
Height: 13.2hh
Halter Color: Artist’s choice!
Prompt:
Don’t tell anyone but Pastel keeps a friend hidden on him pretty much at all times. He carries his dearest friend in his mane. They’re not the obvious pair, him a horse and her a lizard, but they’ve been best friends for a long time. They met when Perch accidentally fell off the wall and into Pastel’s stall trough during an unexpectedly cold night. Pastel helped nudge her out and once she warmed up enough to move, she quickly climbed up into his mane and has stayed there since. She keeps the bugs off Pastel and gives him pointers during competitions while he keeps her warm and safe from predators. The body heat from Pastel keeps Perch warm enough to stay awake, aware, and mobile, even in temps that would normally send her to stillness. An unlikely pair but Pastel is committed to carrying his best friend all the time.

Congrats, you have won this trotter.
For the purposes of breedings and competitions, this trotter is should be considered as wearing a halter even if none is shown.
