it's twilight outside. a gorgeous summer night, the sound of waves surrounding gloam as they walk along the sand. taking the time to unwind prior to bed is really important to them - otherwise they don't have as restful of a night. birds caw off in the distance, sparking gloam to yawn. the sun is almost completely gone now - time to turn around and go home.
night has fallen. gloam is tucked into bed, feet still slightly sandy from the earlier excursion. deep breath in, hold for three, breathe out. from the shores of the beach to the shores of sleep.
a sword! a dragon! a princess! an epic battle! gloam reaches over to the notepad they keep on the bedside table, jotting down the last few remnants of their dream. it was their favorite kind: a historical fantasy tale, one where they could be the hero and save the princess. maybe that little snippet would make it into their novel...
it's morning now, with the sunrise being long gone. the epic dream is in the past now, nothing remaining but flashes of... excitement? but wait, that's not all. on the paper is the idea: the dragon *is* the princess, and she doesn't need saving. maybe that's the idea that will make gloam's dream of being an author come true.
day has passed by, and the sunset darkens the sky once more. it's been a busy day, week, month, year, until the first draft of that dragon princess story has been away to an editor. but the manuscript is gone, and now it's twilight again. gloam walks along the beach, and wonders: what dream will i have tonight?
