Kira had gotten back to the sanctuary finally after the long day they’d had running around town and completing some errands. They had to restock on supplies seeing as Kap’s need to shred every bed they gave him had returned seemingly out of the blue. Confetti wasn’t making their job very easy either, but it did make it clear where Kap got his habits from.
They swung open the door to instantly be met by their mother screaming about how Kap had been cause havoc while they were gone, knocking things over, how he had broke a vase, and he’d even tried to recruit Confetti to help him try to catch a mean-spirited taillow that had been terrorizing him as of late. The Confetti bit didn’t surprise Kira, and neither did the rest of what their mother had told them. It had taken them almost an hour but they talked their mother down into being calm once more although still grumpy as far as Kap’s behavior had been.
“He’s just in his destructive toddler stage mom.” They joked, hoping to lighten the mood.
“Yeah, yeah… just watch him.” Their mother grumbled, and went back to work on the sanctuary’s inventory for the month. Kira sighed deeply and went around to greet Confetti, Kap, and Lucy. They hadn’t been able to find Lucy, which added to their anxiety a bit, but they moved on and went to write the monthly reports on the sanctuary’s happenings.
After a few hours, they’d managed to get the reports all finished although they felt exhausted and drained. They checked the clock, only to see it was only nine. Only nine…? That had felt like an eternity to them… Oh well. They headed out to the main room with a yawn only to feel a few small bumps at their shoulder.
They turned around to see Lucy, the cutiefly who had recently came to the sanctuary. She was a sweet little Pokémon, although a bit shy around the other residents of the sanctuary. She was definitely the least… rowdy of the three Pokémon residents. Kira tilted their head, curiously.
“Something up Lucy?” They questioned the little creature. Lucy responded by heading off in the opposite direction, and motioned for Kira to follow her. Kira, surprised, followed after her quickly and anxiously. What could she want to lead them to? Maybe a hurt Pokémon, or maybe Kap had upset a wild Pokémon around the sanctuary again. Kira continued following after the cutiefly regardless, although their worries grew as time went on. Lucy seemed to be a bit lost.
“You okay Luce…?” They mumbled, taking a step closer to her. They could see the fear in Lucy’s eyes growing slowly. Clearly whatever it was had to be important to her.
“Hey, look at me okay? Deep breaths Luce…” They held the small Pokémon close, trying to soothe her.
“I know you’re scared and stressed, but we can’t find it if you don’t take a breath and stay calm.” They spoke, realizing as it happened they weren’t only saying that to Lucy.
Lucy eventually calmed down, and remembered the way to whatever she had been so scared about before. It wasn’t was Kira had expected based on Lucy’s nature, but it was a welcome surprise regardless. Nestled between two tree branches was a small, green-spotted egg.
