The kookaburra is a classic Australian bird, known for their human-like 'laughter'. Growing up in Australia, I always heard of/sung this little song about Kookaburras;

There upon a sunken tree,
Laid a kitten little as could be.
Alone was he against the oncoming night,
No other feline friend in sight.
Growing was the chorus of laughs,
And down came a single bird on the rest’s behalf.
He spoke to the kitten with a gentle tone,
Offering the kitten a nice warm home.
Despite the bird being just as big as he,
The kitten knew his safety would be overseen
An in joining them he'd be free.
So with a puff of his small chest,
An attitude full of zest,
The kitten set forth on his new-found quest.
Throughout the year his laughter sharpened
And his determination never disheartened.
He was now one with those of the tree
And with the birds he sang off key.
He knows this joy will never fade,
And grateful he is that he had strayed,
And found his home which he had prayed.
There within a fruitful tree,
Laid a young cat as happy as could be.
