Lilac has had a.. fairly normal childhood. Helping out her fellow hearts, begrudgingly going to magic practice, and refusing her veggies. All in all, a normal young ironheart. At least, while in her village.

She would take time to explore, and she really means EXPLORE. She had made some friends outside the village; a few birds, cats, and a mouse. And almost every night, they'd head out and explore. Sometimes that'd be going as far as their legs (or wings) would take them. Other times, it'd be exploration of their magic. Lilac was sure she had learned more with her friends than at her stupid lessons. She was able to be free with her magic, and do the things she wasn't supposed to. Out with her friends, she was free. And she thrived.

One such adventure, took them up a mountain and into a cave. They heard rumors of a strong mage there, who could help guide others with their magic, if worthy. And of course, they knew they had to do it. With some struggles, they managed to make it up to the fabled cave which... was empty. They were frustrated, spending all that effort to be met with nobody. But as the ground rumbled and the rocks began to shift on their own, fear started to fill them. The others retreated out of the cave, but Lilac stayed. She had heard that with enough magical abilities, you could become fully absorbed by your magic, and she knew that is what she was seeing.

Sure enough, she was right. The rocks and stones came together and formed a tall hearthoot, who stared down at her. With enough confidence and bravery to rival even the best warriors, she asked the master hearthoot for advice.
...

To this day, she hasn't told a single soul about what the hearthoot told her, but she did confirm that the advice they gave was something only an animal of their capabilites could give. That talk, though brief, was one of her most treasured memories.
