Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness.With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.

Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.

Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.

Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.

So... this trotter got a little bit lost. Maybe a lottle lost. But the important part is they're found now, and they're looking for a home! And maybe something to break up all that brown, too...

How I literally found them: I follow you/your art posts!
How I found them in a... "lore" sort of way: Eclipse escaped her stall during a wild thunderstorm and fled into the woods. She managed to wander dozens of miles away from her original home, as she couldn't find her way back to the path she had taken blindly during the storm. Finally, she happened across another stable and was slowly nursed back to health. While she wasn't distrustful of humans, she had been alone for a while and wasn't sure where she was, so it took a few days for her to actually walk up to one of the humans. They gave her space and left fresh feed and water for her in the meantime. Eventually, she allowed them to catch her and put her in a pasture. Photos, videos, and fliers were posted all over town and online, but her original owners never claimed her, so she was welcomed into Wulvenhaunt's Stables as a resident mare! : )
Marking: If possible, maybe medium-minimal wild dog overo (r)? Or just regular overo! Or honestly whatever you think would be cool!

Ever since Rico was young he was a wild one no one could tame him even though he was born in civilization in a barn on a ranch, He is a free spirit, untameable and it didn't help his previous owners wanted to "break" his spirit instead of connecting with him so he became more and more untameable, unreachable, Until one day a trainer from moonglow ranch seen him in a field
He was so beautiful running like a wild stallion she could see how spirited he was, as she was watching he noticed her and he pranced showing off his beautiful glistening chocolate coat and she immediately fell in love with him she just knew he would be the perfect horse if trained right,
So she went to his owners and offered to buy him they laughed at her thinking she was foolish to try and train him so they said if she could get a halter on him he was hers no cost because he was useless to them the way he was and they didn't believe she could get near him let alone halter him,
But she could and she did,
After a little work she gained his trust and slipped the halter on him, his owners were astonished but they held up their end of the deal and gave him to her so she took him home and after time she formed a bond with him and trained him to be the perfect horse, at least in her eyes.
And that is how Rico ended up at moonglow ranch.

Prompt:
Mouse was born in a ranch field, quite small. Due her size, a short time after she accidently rolled under the fence. Usually, the bars were low enough that young foals couldn't fit. She doesn't remember much of her young life but due to some luck and kindness, she survived. As she got older, she started wandering, trying to find her way back home. She never grew very big, but she made up for it with determination. During her wanderings, she came across a farm with good smells. She didn't know it at the time, but the owners were setting up a bake sale fundraiser. Mouse couldn't resist the temping odors wafting her way, so she went to investigate. While the people went back into the house, Mouse slipped through a small opening, too small for the larger horses of the ranch to fit through. The owners came back out to find a young horse delicately sampling their sweets. They broke out in laughter seeing this chocolate colored horse dipping her nose in the trifle. Mouse popped her head up but couldn't reach all the mousse on her upper lip. The owners calmly talked to Mouse (and quicky moved all the dangerous sweets back inside). They moved her to a small paddock and snuck a few sugar cubes her way. Mouse figured this might not be her original farm, but it still felt like home.
