One of the ortus bounds up to Dimas as he's on guard outside of the nursery. The little kit paws at one of his legs, grabbing his attention and directing his gaze downward. "Hi, sir! Me and my friends have a question for you. You're a big strong guard, so it's really important."

Dimas gives a bashful chuckle along with a smile. "Alright, well, let's hear it."

"Would you rather fight barracudas or a swarm of bees?" the kit suddenly blurts out. The little one puffs up their chest, eyes gleaming with excitement as they wait for his answer.

Dimas can't help but frown, mostly out of confusion. "Where did you learn about barracudas?"

"Oh! Wanderer was telling us a story about the time they went to the ocean and had to fight off a group of barracudas. And Wanderer also told us about a time that they fight off a swam of bees," the ortus announces proudly.

Dimas glances over at the occasus, whom was already peering at them from afar. The elderly cat always seems to know what's going on in the Syndicate... he can't help but shudder under the mysterious tension. "I see. Wanderer must have been very strong in the prime of their life. As for your question, ortus, I think I would say bees."

"Bees? But why?" the kit presses on. Their paws shuffle over the dusty ground, brimming with excitement. Although bees isn't the most noble answer to most cats, the young one doesn't know the difference.

Dimas laughs and points to the flowers plastered to his collar and to the side of his ear. "It would be much easier to fight off the bees if they're distracted by my sunflowers. Don't you think? Anyways, I don't really know how to swim. So unless barracudas can crawl into the desert..."

"That would be so scary!" the ortus agrees. Now it's their turn to shudder.

"Hmmm...well, bees can be pretty dangerous, but only if they get mad enough to sting. Still...I can't say that I've ever heard of a....bearickudah. Is it a bear?"

er....no, it's...it's a fish.

"A fish?? What a ridiculous name for a fish! Makes it sound almost dangerous, but it's just a fish. Besides, why would I fight a fish? They keep the waters clean, and give us their elderly to eat, I can't see why I would ever fight one."

They actually have really sharp teeth, and can be poisonous, so...they are dangerous. And you never know, you could encounter one in The Game

"Right, see, you say that, but if It's a fish, then how's it supposed to fight me here on land hmmm? All I have to do is trick it abovewater, and then it'll die from the air, I won't even have to fight! Besides, next year is my last year of entry, after that I won't have to worry about The Game, which makes this whole conversation pointless, so there."

...did you just stick your tongue out at me?

"Yes. Besides, with all your defending this fish, are you saying that you'd rather fight the bees?"

Pfft, of course, all you have to do is jump in the water to avoid them."

"But the water is where the Bearickudah's are? I thought you wanted to face the bees instead of the fish?"

first off bumblewish does resemble a bee. sort of, you could say that the spots on her pelt are little bees. she doesn’t think bees have very good eyesight and there for would confuse her for one of their own thus avoiding fighting.

Prompt: Obviously barracudas! Bumble doesn't like the water much, like his namesake, bumblebees. So why he'd ever bee in the water, he has no bumbling idea! So obviously, the smartest option would bee to fight the barracudas! They can't go out of the water, and Bumble prefers lands. Win-win! He'd just jump out of the water, and either the fish would give up, or jump out after him and end up flopping clumsily on the shore. Fumbling Bumblebee would actually kinda enjoy watching the barracudas flop around; it'd be quite funny in his opinion.

Prompt: Sunflowerdance laughs at your odd question and places their head on their paws. "Well... I'm allergic to bees, so I'd have to go with the... barracuda?" She shakes her head and laughs again, looking up at you with a twinkle in her eye. "What even is that?" She asks you. You explain the deadly fish to them, and they look less confident about taking it on. "Ah, well... I'm not much of a hunter! But... I'm sure one of the hunters could teach me," she says, looking to the side nervously. They call Dewstep over, and he sits down to listen to the conversation. "Dewstep, you seem like a pretty good hunter to me! You're always bringing back the most fish from patrols, so I want to ask you something." Dewstep's ears flatten down in embarrassment, "Ah! Thank Sunflowerdance, ask away!" She asks him if he could teach her how to fish, and he seems a little startled. He says he could, but it'd be hard, considering she doesn't know how to hunt very well. You interrupt their back and forth to ask if Sunflowerdance is rethinking their decision. They pause for a moment, before sighing and looking up at you. "I may not know how to hunt, but being close to bees scares me enough as is, so I can only imagine what fighting then would be like!" She says, laughing and shaking her head. Hm, barracudas it is then!

despite being a lover of [some] bees, sunny’hive would fight the bees, and here’s his thought process:
barracudas live in the water, which sunny’hive is deathly afraid of even touching- he’s got an intense fear of drowning and of the creatures that live in the waters, so naturally barracudas fall into that category of terrifying sea life. they’re a pretty brave cat if they say so themself, but the water and creepy fish? that’s one of his fears that he’s not strong enough to face.
now, when it comes to bees: they quite love their bees, honestly, they spend time looking after and caring for a few beehives in the meadows- sort of like a kitty beekeeper. but the thing is, he only likes his bees, because the rest of the bees he encounters seem to hate him with a vengeance. many days they’ve made it back to camp just barely in one piece and having been stung all over, to the point where they’ve made very good friends with all the healers since they need help so often. sunny’hive would take the chance, if given, to destroy the little buggers in a fight once and for all so he wouldn’t have to worry about those evil bees outside of the ones he cares for- the long stay in the healers’ cave would be so worth it.

Warmheart found herself staring down at Crowcall with her head tilted a slight. "Can you repeat the question?" she asked. "I... just want to make sure I heard that right?"

"Would ya rather fight bees or barracudas? Come on, its an easy question!" The cat replied, watching Warmheart intently. His tail swished idly, as he started pacing around her. "Come on, time's tickin..."

"The bees!" Warmheart blurted out. "But oh wait thats a lot of bees with a lot of stingers... the barracudas! But wait the sharp teeth and the jaws... is there a right answer? They both feel wrong and painful and-"

"Tsk tsk, so indecisive! Come on, pick an answer and stick with it! Consider it a graduation test before you become an official scout! I gotta know you're smart and brave and-"

"BARRACUDAS!" Warmheart blurted out, ears back.

"Oh hoh hoh... why?"

"Well... because they are fish and we are cats so... we could possibly win and eat them afterwards?"

"...A cat that thinks with their stomach? I think I like you! But its the wrong answer, just so you know..." Crowcall purred this out tauntingly, as they started to walk away. Warmheart followed, shaking their head.

"So wait, what was the right answer? Bees? Crowcall? Tell meeee..." To which she only received an amused chuckle from the self proclaimed 'Problem Child' of the clan.

Barracudabite would rather fight the barracudas, of course - sure, they're bigger, and they probably have a lot of sharp teeth, but there are probably gonna be fewer of them than the bees, right? And if there are, say, one hundred bees, that's gonna be one hundred bees - can the barracudas really bite them one hundred times before they can defeat them? They'd like to think no, they couldn't - they're great at fishing. And swimming, by the way. An advantage against both the bees and the barracudas.

The barracudas are a much fairer fight, too. Can they swim? Yes, so can the barracudas. Can they fly? No. But the bees can. And they just know those dirty bees will use that to their advantage. And on the flip side of that - is it fair to the bees that they must die after each sting, so that they dramatically fall in numbers as the fight goes on? No! That won't happen to the barracudas. And there's only one of Barracudabite, but they won't, like, fall apart piece by piece each time they strike the bees. No, a barracuda v. Barracudabite fight would be much more fair on both ends.

All in all, they would much rather fight the barracudas than the bees - although if either of them showed up at their nest looking to pick a fight, they wouldn't turn them down. They could eat bees for breakfast, if they felt like it.
