Elan's best friend is the wind. He knows that may sound strange at first, but it's true. Ever since he was just a tiny colt standing on wobbly legs for the first time, Elan has loved the wind. The way it rushes past his mane and up between his ears, how it sends a chill through his body. He loves every bit of it. Sometimes, Elan will break away from the herd and just run, thinking it amazing that even on the calmest day, he can create his own wind and send it rushing over him.
Even when his senegal friends weren't around anymore to be by his side, to comfort him, the wind was. It was always there, blowing gently, whistling to him. Telling him that everything will be alright.

Diego's best friend isn't quite who you'd think they would be. Sure he's got some tolter friends, Senegal friends, even a butterfly winged friend. But his bestest friend of all is a snow leopard! The fuzzball ended up slipping into some cargo to seek shelter from a storm in a part of the world that our horses get resources from. Diego being the food monster that he is, was the first to come across the stowaway looking for his treats! Seeking shelter & comfort in Diego, it wasn't long before the two were inseparable & the little leopard gained the name Rascal. Now a days they like to scare the daylights out of eachother and take naps basking in the sun.

At first Diego thought it was hard having to take care of the fuzzy baby, he had never had to take a responsibility on like this before! Thankfully, for him, there were on the clock stable mates to help out but the worst of it for Diego was having to take Rascal to Solinius' sister Island, Emeraldore. Rascal was in need of more colder temperatures, as for Diego was built more for the warmth. The cold on Emeraldore would chill Deigo to the bone, making him have to retreat to the stables there for warmth every now and again. Rascal & him spending many a night bundled up with blankets in a stall cuddled up. Eventually Diego was able to get a custom built coat for their trips, making it more fun to explore Emeraldore with Rascal on the warmer side of things. Another obstacle for Diego was their spectrum of food & treats. One another having a passion of disgust for eachothers food choices, they switched food once with eachother and agreed to not ever do it again.

What is a cuddle party with only two? It's not, sometimes. Having eachother is very nice but they both felt like something, or more like someone, was missing out on these moments with them. There was an empty presence that uninvitedly made its way around. They pondered on the idea of having, what they would like to call, a trio for some time, until one regular fateful day they end up meeting their 3rd partier! Wynona, Wynona, is a playful, shy, sneaky mare and she was really feeling up to no good that day, thinking of nothing else better to do than to go find the rest of the herd & jump scare them! Making her rounds, Wynona was having a wonderful time gallovanting around. Laughing with some and running from others, eventually tuckering herself out, she decided to go find a nice spring for some water to sip on. What Wynona didn't know was that Rascal & Diego could see her from nearby and they were also feeling up to no good, scaring the guest's that wandered apon that waterhole for the day. The boys were in position, giggling under their breaths. Rascal hiding among branches in a tree, Diego blending in with giant bushes, giving eachother the look, oh it was go time. Rascal leaped out at Wynona with a playful snarl, Diego & him unable to hold back their laughter any longer, to Wynonas surprise, she thought she was in a battle for her life. Diego charging out of the bushes, they all made a run for it! It didn't take long for Wynona to realize that the predator was actually not a predator, but a good friend to the giant ancient zebra. Tired of their shenanigans, she stopped right in her tracks, making the boys come to a tumbling hault. " I got you now!" She says as she charges after them. Going back and forth with eachother like that for hours. As the day came to an end, they all couldn't see themselves without eachother, so Wynona decided to adopt them like as if they were her own two troubled brothers. All in agreement after that day, they retreated into a cuddle pile & slept the night away, bringing entertainment fulfillment to each of their everyday with eachother.

Roo's best friend on the vast plains is Siv, a Sivatherium who he took an unusual liking to when he was younger. Roo hangs out with Siv most of the time, as he hasn't yet found a harem willing to accept him. favorite Resting Spot:
Anywhere that Maryjane and Felix are at. The three are often found sleeping side by side or somewhere near each other. When comes to nap time or rest by the river, Zeke will become a pillow for Felix and Maryjane. Felix often found snug between Zeke and Maryjane.

The Trio of Zeke, Maryjane & Felix
Zeke has 2 Best Friends. Both of his best friends happen to be appaloosa. Believe it or not, 1 being nearly 1/3 of his size.
Zeke, Maryjane and Felix get along so well, that they're often paired together during activities including camping. Sometimes the camping trips are even for days long at a time. When they go camping, Zeke is often carrying 1-3 people, Maryjane usually the same rider while Felix is always ridden by children learning to ride.

Best Adventure:
Zeke, Maryjane and Felix had once gone camping up in the mountains. The trio along side other Zebras, other species and many humen. They traveled through a jungle, many hills then mountains. There were many streams, rivers and even water falls. Every so often the group had stopped at a river, and even stayed overnight at one of the water falls at a river and lake. Behind the water fall was a large cave. The humen had seemed to taken most interest in the cave for longest. Most of the Zebras wouldn't even dare go in while Zeke and Felix were very interested. Because of this, they were used to haul wagons of colorful rocks the humen call gems and crystals.

After the long day's worth of work, a few zebras left with a large wagon, while the rest of the group remained for the night. The following morning the humen were getting packed by time Zeke had woke up. Felix was already awake playing with the children while Maryjane was still asleep beside him. Zeke nudged Maryjane softly then walked towards the group as Zeke, Maryjane and Felix don't get tied or penned up while camping. Zeke approached a human struggling to carry a large heavy bag. He kneeled down and let the human set the heavy load onto his back. The human set the heavy bag onto Zeke's back then sat on Zeke's back to hold the bag in place. Zeke continued to help the group move heavy things while Maryjane was being tacked up.

Half an hour had gone by, and everything was packed, everyone was fed and watered. As usual Zeke carried at least 2 humen, while Maryjane her usual, however this time Felix is pulling a small wagon with a few children as passengers. Zeke and Maryjane stuck beside Felix majority of the time except when riders asked Zeke to go elsewhere. A couple of hours had gone by of going up hills until had reached a large lake in the mountains. The humen had got more busy this time to unpack and set up. Zeke, Maryjane and Felix already knew what that meant. They were staying here for many days and have plenty of time to explore. The trio were untacked and released to roam. The three had roamed together to the lake to get a drink, cuddle and rest before adventuring.

After their rest, they had ventured off for a walk around the lake. The humen know the trio always return and already expect the trio to vanish for a few hours or more. Zeke is the muscles, Maryjane is the calm brave one while Felix happens to be a natural leader. So therefore, Zeke and Maryjane are often following wherever Felix decides to go. Times Felix had let Maryjane or Zeke lead, they just on adventure of get lost. Lucky for them, Felix is always keeping track and knows how to retrace his steps or find another route.

The owners of Zeke had left a large sack on his back, knowing the trio like to find neat things and have often brought back valued things. The trio started to collect shiny and colorful rock. Even finding other neat things that are only of their interest and not their owners. Sometimes the children enjoy the items that had been found. After an hour, the trio had continued their adventure walking around the lake. They had come across many animals and even had found other Senegal Zebras. The herd respected the trio and saw them as no threat. Felix even greeted some of the herd members and stuck around for a bit while Zeke and Maryjane mostly rested.

After their hang out session, the sun was to start setting soon. The trio had adventured back to their campsite, finishing their trip around the lake. By time they got back to their campsite, it had just gotten dark. The trio had been gone for 1/4 of the day. A meal was waiting for the trio. Zeke's owners had removed the large sack from his back, then let him join Maryjane and Felix.

Days had gone by of rest, adventures and work. After about a week of time it was time to go back home. One morning everyone was eating, packing and tacking up Zebras. Hounds barking and running around hyped up for the trail ride trip back. Kids playing with Felix as always, while Maryjane resting until she gets tacked up. While Zeke is always helping move heavy loads to wagons. A couple hours had gone by, everyone was packed, tacked up, fed, watered and ready to to be on the trail again. Everyone set off for a few hour hike then took a three hour break, then made our way back home.






I don't have time today (Dec 18th last minute bonus entries) to get around to lining just able to do quick sketches.
So if I do win him, these will most likely sometime be finished projects.
If this contest happens to not have ended yet by Late Monday or some point Tuesday, then I might consider at least finishing the head-shot.

Sekani's best friend is Zuli, one of the broncs ridden by rangers whenever they go check in on the zebra herd. Usually, Sekani will run up to Zuli and exchange greetings and not leave the ranger alone, which isn't ideal for our off-hands approach to monitoring the zebras. One of the rangers was able to train Zuli to recall at a specific whistle sound, and which then allows her to run unencumbered with Sekani while the ranger works. The two of them roam the terrain and explore and discover together, and when one gets too far ahead, they will wait for their friend to catch up.
