Story;
The mare was fiesty as she was loaded into the trailer. It took several tries to coax her in as she was nipping at everyone and giving warning kicks with her fierce glowing hooves. Offering a snack someone had in their pockets was how we finally got her in. I made a mental note to ask later what it was. Before this I was told that she was pregnant, which presented its own set of challenges. She needed a vet check-up, preferably before she gave birth.
Before I knew it, we were on our way. Upset stomping rattled the trailer as we left The Agency. By the time we made it back to the stables, she had calmed down, but we could still feel her irritated glare at us as we moved her to the prepared box with a private field. Once the halter was off and she was in the box, she became very defensive. We let her be for the night, to give her time to adjust to all the new stimuli.
The next morning she had her head over the door, and was nipping at anyone who got close to her. Unfortunately her box was right next to the tack and feed rooms; some got too close to the pregnant mare and had the bruises to show for it. I talk to a few people, and the only one who could get close enough to refill her feed without getting nipped was the person who had the treats we used to coax her into the trailer. I find that interesting, and go track them down.
Over the next few weeks I use the treats to help get her to trust me. At first it's only her taking the treats before trying to nip me. Then, I'm able to touch her neck and take her halter on and off. Soon enough, I'm able to pick up her feet. I make the decision to home off on attempting tack until after she's given birth. One day I come in, and a hand rushes up to me in excitement saying he was able to pet her without her trying to nip. We both go over to her box where she has her head lazily over the door. Everyone was shocked at how calm she'd become.
This would make working with her much easier after birth

Decided I'm gonna do a special where I create a batch of Stallions that are one of the stallions who had made any captured mares pregnant in the wild. This way the owner can pick at the very least what the other parent looks like!

So birthing might be just a tad longer of a wait!
