Ghost Story: Many years ago, an old man had a dog that he loved dearly. They were a fairly common sight in the Indiana town, walking up and down the bustling streets, the little bulldog with striking green eyes and a stiff gait next to the old florist that surely everyone had bought flowers from at one point of another. But, such is life -- the old man passed away, and the poor dog was inconsolable. He was taken in by the old man's family, but disappeared often, and found laying at the step of the mausoleum that housed his owner's remains. This went on for a long while; the groundskeeper got into the habit of leaving food and water out for the faithful pup, and sheltering him during the Midwestern storms.

Then came the day that the dog, too, passed on. He was carefully stuffed and placed in the mausoleum, so loyal was he to the old man that nobody could bear to part them in death. He remained there for years, until spooked teenagers brought a gun to the cemetery and shot at him, cracking one glass eye. He was promptly re-housed in a replica mausoleum in the town historical museum, to keep him safe.

And now, every once in a while, at the old cemetery, people claim to hear the gruff barks of a bulldog, or see an old man striding among the gravestones with a stiff-legged bulldog at his heels, bright green eyes cutting through the dark night like moonlit emeralds. Such is the legend of Stiffy Green.

(Note: this is an actual ghost story from Indiana, I didn't make up the dog's name lol. He was named that for the stiff walk and green eyes.)

Ghost Story:
I was never one to believe in ghosts or the supernatural. I never thought too hard about them, and I had never seen one. But of course, I did share space with a ghost for four years. For two of those years, I did not know they existed but spent much of my time in and near their home. You see, as anyone who frequents theatres will tell you, every theatre comes with a theatre ghost - free of charge! Even a small high school theatre has its very own high school theatre ghost.

I was heavily involved with my school's choir program, and our room was right by the backstage theatre entrance. I spent a lot of time in that theatre with its high ceilings and layers upon layers of curtains. Once I started participating in the school musical I spent even more time in that ever-empty yet full place, and finally had my first encounter with our ghost. At first, of course, I did not realize it was the ghost. I just saw the abnormal tracks upon the black floor and wondered how on earth a chicken had made its way center stage.

I was told by a friend that no, those were the tracks of our theatre ghost - lovingly named the chicken demon. No one knows how or when the chicken demon came to roost in our theatre. Not even the two theatre teachers could tell us. But occasionally we would find chicken tracks on the black-painted stage and chicken feathers in dressing rooms. Ours was a kind ghost, in the way only the spirit of an animal could be. I think back on the chicken demon and wonder if the current students of that school take its existence with the same laidback acceptance as we did. And if I will ever again share space with such a gentle spirit as that of a broody chicken demon.

Congrats! Low key made me think of Seymour from Futurama and I thought the name Stiffy Green was fun lol thank you for sharing his story!
Apologies for it will take me a little while to update the thread and remove the Adopt Me.

Thank you so much! :D
Stiffy Green is one of my favorite ghost stories, haha. I was able to go to the museum and see the dog fairly recently, and I went the extra mile to visit the old man's mausoleum as well and pay my respects. Love a good ghost story that has that tangible feel to it!
