Hoping you mean rollover on 24th to the 25th haha
Theres a hammering on the door to Lokas’s room and he shoots up out of his nest. His fur sticks everwhere, eyes wide. That knocking sounds urgent, and a lot like how his mother knocks when he is running late for something.
The knocking stops, and Lokas stares at the door cautiously.
“Please tell me you werent sleeping Lokas, you are almost ready right dear?” His mother calls, her voice sounding hurried and a little breathless. She probably ran up all the stairs again. Wouldnt be the first time.
Ready?
Loka’s looked at the mess of his room in panic. “Uh… Yeah Im almost ready”
His mother bursts into his room like a hurricane, tutting in disaproval. Swaming around him like theres three of her. You arent ready at all she mutters as she smooths his fur. She speaks quicker as she rummages through his room, talking so fast Lokas cant quite make sense of it until she fastens his fanciest bow onto his neck.
“What are we getting ready for?” Lokas asks quickly, head tilted. Its the question that makes his mother freeze in place.
“We’ve been planning for weeks Lokas. You are pulling my tail?”
Her pale eyes bore straight into Loka’s soul and he laughs lightly.
“Of course, of course. Shall we go now?”
“Immediatly in fact!” Mother nodded furiously to herself, Lokas’s question nearly forgotten. “Your father is waiting downstairs.”
Lokas dad was coming? Lukas freaked out a little more. This really was important.
A charity ball perhaps? No no there was one two nights ago.
The unveiling of another stature? The hugging of another kitten?
What if it was another potential date finding night? Loka’s shuddered, but that wouldnt explain why his father was present.
He stared out the limousine, frantically trying to think of what it could be, so he knew how to act. Knew what he was supposed to do. It was only as a flickering city sign caught his eye he figured it out.
The city, encapsulated by a giant protective sphere against all the dangers of outside. Was getting another internal level. It hadnt happened for a generation or two, building up to fit more of the storkatten that called the place home.
Lokas’s father was going to announce the new sky high area open for colonisation and building, his son and wife at his side.
They had forgotten Loks was terrified of heights. Up and up they went, the air getting thinner, Lokas’s breath getting faster. His eyes clenched shut. He only opened them when it started flashing, paparazzi cameras flaring as the limo door opened for him.
He had to get out of the car. He stepped onto the new ground. Up so so high in the air. Nothing but falls and other buildings and strokes below. He was going to die if the structure failed. But he couldnt let his parents down either.
He tugged at his bow, wishing for luck and hope and praying that it would be over soon. It would all be fine, as long as he didnt have to look over the edge.
