LBC #0108

Postby Penultima » Sat Mar 12, 2022 5:57 pm

The Lone Bashkir Curly horse is a very unique and set apart breed. They are well known for their curly coats, caused by many gene mutations, and their versatility. Lone Curly Horses are often found as chestnut, but have a wide variety of colors, some more rare than others. They range in a height of 13-16 hands, but are often found between 14-15 hands. These horses are found wild in Nevada, USA. Although they are wild, they are also known for their calm and gentle nature. Lone Bashkir Curly Horses got their name due to them not staying in herds with other horses, like most do. Since they are always separated, they often wonder far into owned land and cause disruptions. They have very much grown in population, and many problems have arose, therefore creating the LBC Organization. The LBC Organization is running a rehoming program to protect these horse's while still preserving them. If you're interested, keep an eye out as many are posted for rehoming daily.

What a uniquely-colored lady! To try out for her adoption, tell me who her best friend is (another LBC, a human, or other animal friend), and describe how they met!

Owner: Orion
Show Name: GDC Arctic Moon
Barn Name: Moon
Gender: Mare
Height: 15.2hh
Halter: Light purple
Prompt: Funny enough, Moon has made friends with one of the smallest creatures at the barn, a barn mouse! This little critter's name is Milo and despite him being the exact opposite of Moon, they've become best friends. They met on a slightly foggy summer's eve, right after feeding time at the barn. Moon was busy eating and didn't notice the small mouse who had just entered her stall. Milo had been drawn to Moon's stall by the smell of food, and since he needed to feed himself and his family, he figured he would just sneak some grain and be off. However, he didn't realize that he would have to avoid Moon while she was eating. Milo entered Moon's stable through a hole in the door and went straight to the spilled grain in a corner. At this point, Moon had realized that there was a small animal in her stall and was moving around. Her eyes rested upon the small mouse in the corner, eating and she began to move her nose around Milo. Milo was terrified, but he sensed that Moon could be trusted, so he turned around and looked at Moon. Milo noticed that Moon had no intention of hurting him and decided to climb onto her nose. This startled Moon a little bit, but she was generally unfazed. Since that day, Milo and Moon have always had a special connection, and Milo's favourite spot to have a snack is curled up in Moon's forelock!

Owner: Taxidea
Show Name: Σ! Over The Rainbow
Barn Name: Dorothy
Gender: Mare
Height: 13.3hh
Halter: Pastel rainbow
Prompt: Dorothy never had close friends. She wasn't sure if it was something about her that made other animals not seem to want to approach her, but she spent most of her days on the outskirts of other friend circles: watching, listening, and instantly regretting it every time she would try to interact. Then, one day, the farm took on a mini foal with dwarfism that had been rejected by its mother. At first, all the other farm animals were interested and trying to befriend the foal, but they quickly lost interest when he didn't act the way they wanted him to. But Dorothy saw in him a kindred spirit. She recognized his seeming aloofness as her same shyness and lack of confidence. Rather than rush up to him and try to start a friendship as the others had done, Dorothy did what she would want others to do with her -- she slowly and quietly just got closer until she was grazing nearby, and then, without even meaning to, the two of them were following each other around the pasture. If Dorothy took a few steps to the left, the foal did the same. If the foal sniffed at something at trotted toward it, Dorothy would walk over as well. Dorothy learned that his name was Toto, but everyone called him Munchkin. He loved to gallop from one end of the field to the other, and, despite his size, he could beat Dorothy to the fence if he charged off without warning. His favorite food was alfalfa pellets until Dorothy introduced him to fresh clover flowers, and, after that, the two of them would spend hours hunting for the sweet white buds. Dorothy showed Munchkin her favorite tree to stand under, and the two made a game out of trying to catch the patches of sunlight that filtered through the leaves. Dorothy was overwhelmed with joy to finally have a friend, one that understood and accepted her just as she was. To this day, Dorothy and Munchkin spend every day together, doing whatever they feel like and being perfectly content to be in each other's company. In the late afternoon, they can often be found lying under their favorite tree, napping in the warm summer breeze, Munchkin curled up against Dorothy's side. At night, they share a stall, unless they sneak out and stare up at the stars, making plans and dreaming up adventures for the future.

Owner: horselover1978
Show Name: A heart of gold
Barn Name: Rose
Gender: Mare
Height: 15.1hh
Halter: Plum with rose gold hardware
Prompt: Her best friend is Blur Another curly Blur and Rose have been friends since childhood. Blur has always been insecure, and Rose helps him work through it. She helped shape the confident and outgoing Blur everyone knows today. They were born one year apart, in the same barn, and are now pasture-mates, and their stalls are right next to each other. They spend their time talking and walking throughout their pasture, creating stories and characters, their ability to play off each other easily due to many years of practice.
They are both fantastic with kids and don't skip out on the fun themselves, always having a good time no matter the situation. As long as Rose is nearby, Blur is not scared of a rustling bush or falling leaves. It's not a good idea to take Blur on a trail without Rose unless you want to have your horse bolt at a leaf on the ground.
When Blur is scared, Rose will show him how it isn't something to be afraid of, but when Rose gets overconfident and tries something stupid, Blur will hold her back. They have a symbolic relationship in a way. Both complement each other's personalities and strong points.

    Owner: Pandora Maryam
    Show Name: OHS Finders Keepers
    Barn Name: Trinket
    Gender: Mare
    Height: 13.3hh
    Halter: Jewel tones
Prompt: Trinket has a very unusual friend--a magpie she calls Flick! Trinket is used to many different kinds of wildlife paying visit to her barn. She watches the sleek garter snakes slither through the grass, the rotund woodchuck lumber out of his hole, the mother fox slink between fence posts, and the little sparrows twittering about their day. For the most part the wild creatures kept their distance and Trinket didn't mind at all seeing them around from time to time.

This respectful distance came to a crashing halt with Flick. It was a usual afternoon for Trinket: after a relaxing trail ride that morning she was peacefully munching lush grass in the paddock. Out of nowhere she heard a loud, chattering bird call and a black iridescent flash came down from above. Trinket reared and whinnied in fear as the black feathery creature latched onto her halter! She shook her head fiercely and the strange bird let go to fly circles around her!

"Shiny, shiny!" The bird squawked, and Trinket realized what this featherbrain was after, the shiny hardware of her halter! She nickered in laughter, and explained to the bird she couldn't give him her halter, but she offered some strands of her mane for his nest instead. The magpie happily accepted, plucking some shiny white hairs from Trinket's mane and flying off.

Since then, Trinket and Flick have become birds of a feather! Flick comes to visit Trinket, always bringing some sort of shiny gift (a paperclip, a ring, some tinsel) and Trinket gives him a nibble of grain or some curly fluff for his nest. The two are an unusual pair but can be seen frolicking around the paddock together, taking turns playing case, or napping together in the shade.

These friend stories are all so cute and sweet, it was hard to pick a favorite! Congrats to Taxidea!
