Technically Apollo kind of has part of his ‘almost’ name... see, he was supposed to be a very short term foster situation kept by Mistyoak’s resident veterinarian Aster, and in an effort to keep from attachment, Aster didn’t even try giving the puppy a name. He instead printed off the first thing that made him chuckle that day and taped it on the incubator. After all- anything becomes a name and endearing, but if you just associate your charge with an image and just call it ‘puppy’ or the like when needed, you can give him up in a week and also not risk adjusting a puppy to two names in quick succession.

He also happened to joke at the time: ‘watch, he’ll stick around anyway. Sid’s going to finally let Orion raise a dog.’ Which is... exactly what wound up happening, as Orion’s progress with Achilles had been nothing short of stellar, and he was indeed hoping to raise a puppy.

Aster is likely never living this down, and Orion has the original ‘name’ (below) printed & framed over Apollo’s bed.
