Colombia is the most famous source for emeralds. The most famous deposit in Colombia is the Muzo Mine, northwest of Bogota. It yields fine quality emeralds of deep green color. Colombian rough emeralds are known for the highest quality. These emeralds have a warmer and intense pure green color. Deep green emeralds are a rare occurrence in nature, hence are highly prized and sought after. Emeralds from Colombian mines have a slight variation in color but they still possess a strong lush color that makes them famous. The colors range from vivid lush green to bluish green.

Her eyes reminded me of this beautiful gemstone, hence the name.
