Doc works long hours making sure all of the heifers and calves get what they need every day, waking long before the sun and finally calling it a day hours into dark. She loves walking out to the edge of the herd and laying down in the tall, lush, cool grass. She watches the stars in their eternal rotation around the earth, and takes comfort knowing that they will always watch over her and the others. She often dozes while out on the fringes, but tends to wake and move back to the others. As much as she enjoys her break, she knows that she would be as lost without her herd as they would be without her.

When Pepper first gets a moment to herself, the pastime she turns to doesn't seem to be relaxing at all, at first. Taking almost violently to blank sheets of paper, she will scribble and doodle whatever comes to her head, in a flurry of pencil and paper. The other members of the barn aren't quite sure how this method works for her- the best guess so far is that she needs to burn off any remaining nervous or stressed energy from the day's tasks.

Soon enough, the frenzied drawing subsides, giving way to slower strokes of the pencil. At the end of Pepper's "scribble sessions," as they have come to be known, the product is not a messy one, but rather a series of soft and beautifully rendered graphite drawings. And the contented shine in Pepper's eyes when she presents a finished drawing confirms that it does help her unwind.

As the sun starts to set she grabs out her journal and writes, and writes... and writes. Lottie loves to write short stories about mystery and romance but always leaves it on a cliffhanger. She is always excited when she heads back inside; she reads her stories to everyone before bed just to let them have an interesting dream and loves to hear about them in the morning. seeing their excitement and curiosity really keeps her going and also gives her ideas for the end of the day. Doc handles pressure well and does their best to focus on their job and the people who have put their trust in them. However even the hardest of gems fracture under enough pressure and at the end of the day Doc is far softer than gemstone. There's no one thing that helps them calm themself - no singular fix all solution. There are the little things though. A nice cup of tea or a good book. An indulgent daydream or curling up next to a warm fire. A little ditty, hummed under breath as they settle in for bed.
