Prompt:
Ever the explorer, Inyene is often getting himself into and out of places. This includes places where Inyene really isn't allowed to be. So when a cave system by his home was blocked off by some kind of business, he wanted to get in there and see what it was all about. He snuck past the guards, slipped through the many fences, and disappeared into the caves.
At first, Inyene couldn't figure out why the company had any interest in the caves. They had set up lights and supports so that the caves could be easily navigated, but all he could see was bare rock. He decided to walk deeper underground, hoping that there would be something at the end of it.
The further he walked, the less that Inyene could see. The spaces between the lights that the big company had put up started to grow larger, leaving large swathes of the cave in relative darkness. Inyene wasn't about to turn back, however. He made it to the end of the cave corridor and was blanketed in darkness. Yet for some reason, he could still see the cave ahead of him. It took him a minute to realize that the cave was now coated in a dim, blue glow. Growing excited, Inyene decided to follow the glow to the source.
He walked for so long that he began to wonder if he'd ever make it out again. But eventually, he turned a corner and found what he was looking for. Stretching in front of him was a huge room covered in glowing blue crystals. He immediately knew that he had to have one.
A noise suddenly echoed from behind him in the cave. Worried that he didn't have much time left, Inyene found a loose crystal on the ground then grabbed it and ran. He did his best to stay silent, knowing that the guards were probably on the lookout for him. The glowing crystal made it much harder for Inyene to conceal himself, so instead he tried to stay as quiet and small as possible.
He started to hear voices as he made it back to the start of the electric lights. Heart racing, Inyene stayed as hidden as he could until the entrance to the cave came back into view. Freedom was right there!
"Hey! What are you doing here?!"
Inyene hissed; he'd been seen. Panicked, he decided to just run. Keeping the crystal gripped tightly between his teeth, Inyene flew out of the cave, pushed his way through the fence, and ran as fast as he could back home. He hid as soon as he got back to his den, panting hard. He could have gotten into so much trouble.
Still, as he looked down at the crystal he had found, Inyene knew that he would happily do it all again.
