Name: Florence aka. Flo
Name Meaning(s): Florence is of Latin origin, meaning flower
Gender: Female
Creature: The creature remains unnamed but has been described as an amalgamation of fear, dread, terror, strength and might, all who have seen this creature can only remember the emotion it brings them as it somehow wipes their memories of its appearance, nothing is known about the creatures appearance and little about its habits, it is a hostile creature who devours for nothing other than fun as it never feasts upon the bodies or souls of its victims. Records of the being date back to the prehistoric era; one tell-tale sign of the creature's presence is a blackening of bones after an attack; bones belonging to the most historical creatures, even the tiktaalik roseae, have been found blackened yet perfectly preserved. There is little proof that this creature even exists and nothing is known on how many there are, 'sightings' of this creature have been debunked and the creature evades all attempts to catch it; its almost as if there is no physical body at all. The creatures attacks stopped some 300 years ago until 7 years ago when there was a spree of killings on a small island where the population had been completely wiped out. The destruction had been unnoticed for many years until explorers found the black bones littered on the beach front, and with more exploration, they would find thousands more, since then the creature has claimed a victim a week; all in a geographical line across the equator. The reason of these attacks and the location of them is widely unknown and fear of the creature resides in all across the attack line.

Prompt: It was an average day for Flo, she had been in the orchard inspecting the apples with her owner all morning, there had been a wave of bugs eating her crops, defeated by the number of bad apples they had to remove from the tree, Flo's owner hung her head and carried the basket of apples into the bard for composting whilst letting out a sigh and walking glumly, there had been money troubles on the farm which worried Flo's owner even more. Flo trotted happily along side her owner, doing her typical routine of silliness to try and get a smile from her owner, and it worked! Flo's owner chuckled as a tear dripped down her cheek to a very please smile 'I'm glad your still happy girly' Flo barked happily and went off on her way to a field whilst her owner filled the composter, Flo knew the way home so it wasn't rare that she wandered off for a few hours to play, her owners trusted her to come back home. Flo arrived at the field in minutes, they had tall grass and as a collie, Flo made it her obligation to run through it at top speed. For such a happy go lucky dog flo was uncharacteristically nervous of tales and storiesfrom her puppyhood, anything from the unbelievable to the downright ridiculous! Flo knew about the stories of creatures in the area, dragons and hydras seemed silly to her imagination, she couldn't even picture them, how would anyone give them strokes if they were that tall?! Flo passed it off as puppy tales, though there was one creature Flo was fearful of, a creature that nobody as seen before, it didn't even have a name, whilst she didn't believe in dragons, she believed in this one purely because the creature was so fearsome the possibility of it existing kept her safe from it. Hours had past of her playing in the field before she was called back to her owner, she happily jumped through the long grass once more before heading back to the farm, at this point she had jumped through all of the grass and even made some Flo-sized pathways trhough the thick growth, but something felt strange in the air, there was an almost dull smell, the grass didn't have a smell and the smell of harvest had disappeared, this was strange, Flo started to worry about the absense of smells, worring that she could no longer, as soon as she began to worry she felt a presence of something, she turned around quickly and pinned her ears towards the slight humming she heard from a figure in the sky. She saw it, she saw what no other person or collie had, and she was astounded, for the stories she heard the creature had an unimaginable beauty about them but a confusing aura, she saw black and white at the same time, gold and silver, beginning and the end, the creature could make people feel so awful just by being in their presence, but Flo, she didn't feel that, it was almost like looking into a void, how could nothing cause pain? how could it inspire joy? how could something so beautiful be the end of so many lives, but the most prevalent question in her mind, how would she be believed? that she saw a creature who was everything and nothing at the same time? She doubted herself that she even saw the creature in fact she wanted to believe it didn't exist so she could go on living without the knowledge that a creature like that exists, she was too shocked to move, she was fearful of her thoughts, she was terrified that a creature of such majesty could exist on this very same planet, was this what the other felt? the feelings of fear, of dread, of terror? did they see the creature and did it spare them for some grander and unknown reason? She didn't want to tell a soul of this creature, for the fear it would be bombarded with traps and people trying to besmirch its free and beautiful nature. Well, she couldn't even if she wanted to, she can't even remember what it looks like.

Username: Marz-Barz
Name: G&S Belly of the Beast "Beast"
Name Meaning(s): I think it'll make sense once you read it haha
Gender: female
Creature: In the early 1970s, James ‘Jim” Jackson sent a letter to an associate, Colton Fleming, describing something strange found while drilling for oil in the Permian Basin, West Texas. He sent samples of what appeared to be organic matter spread vast and wide underneath the ground. This discovery and subsequent excavation of what became known as the Permian Basin Superorganism led to one of the most popular National Parks, as well as one of the most deadly disasters in human history.

The Permian Basin Superorganism Natural Preserve, known colloquially as The Mystery Flesh Pit National Park, is located in the Permian Basin, Texas. If you visited the park back in its heyday in the 80s and 90s, you could hike either on your own or with a guide through the anatomy of the Permian basin Superorganism. Like any National Park, the wildlife that lived therein could pose a serious threat to park goers if not treated with respect. Creatures like the Abyssal Copepod could seriously and potentially fatally injure guests who intentionally or otherwise get to close them. If you were looking for a bit of a safer option for enjoying the Mystery Flesh Pit Park, you could instead pay a visit to the Lower Visitor’s Center.

The Lower Visitor’s Center is a building built deep within the maw of the Superorganism. To reach the Lower Visitor’s Center, you must ride the central elevator in a 20-minute descent into total darkness, where you can then step into the brightly lit Visitor’s Center. Inside it you can experience a plethora of dining opportunities, gift shops, and vendors. You could also enjoy the health benefits of the Amniotic Springs, as well as book a stay at the Intrapark Wellness resorts and get a nice view of the Gastric Sea. You can also partake in even deeper and more treacherous treks through the anatomy of the Superorganism.

On July 4th, 2007, the Mystery Flesh Pit staff made the decision to keep the park open 4 extra hours in compensation for the scheduled fireworks show being cancelled due to weather. Unfortunately, the extra demand put on the power grid led to a catastrophic failure of water pumps in the sand gullet which led to choking behaviours from the Superorganism. Emergency actions taken to stabilize the superorganism backfired and caused it to violently attempt to cough out the water now draining down its throat and airways. While they were eventually able to calm the creature down, catastrophic damage to the support structures of the Lower Visitor’s Center and the Superorganism began to swallow the contents of its throat, including the 750 visitors trapped in the Lower Visitors Center. 1800 others were majorly injured by earthquakes, gastric ejecta, and various other events caused by the brief awakening of the creature. Over 18,000 individuals from surrounding communities sought medical attention for either physical or psychological effects of direct contact with activity or gastric ejecta of the Superorganism. The park was closed for good shortly after.
Prompt:
Beast was excited, her and her owner were on a trip! They had been driving for what felt like forever to reach their destination. As she jumped out of the car, she noted an odd smell in the air. It smelled like meat, and bad breath, but the humans seemed excited to be here so she tried her best to match their energy. As they made their way down the tail the smell got worse, and it seemed it was strong enough for the humans to notice as well. They laughed about it and brushed it off, so did Beast. Then she saw it, a giant gaping wound in the ground. She stopped in her tracks. This is what they came so far to see? It seemed,,,wrong. The air not only smelled bad, but felt bad as well.

Beast did not want to approach the pit, but her humans urged her on, speaking in gentle calming voices. Beast did not want to continue, but she did. The closer she got, the more uneasy she felt. They eventually boarded an elevator that seemed to go on forever that led to a well lit area that she could only describe as similar to a very large shopping mall. They wandered around for what felt like hours, and her humans split into separate groups at one point, one staying with her and the others leaving with a man in what looked like a hazmat suit and coming back smelling much worse than before, then they switched and repeated the process. They stayed much too long for Beast’s liking, and she was very thankful when they left the pit. The car ride home was long, but Beast was glad for the distance between the pit and her.

Name: Waheela aka Heela
Name Meaning(s): (optional)
Gender: Male
Creature: Waheela - Mysterious White Wolf of Canada
Prompt: Heela lifted her gaze to the night sky as the piecing howl filled the air. Something was very wrong. With her trusted human at her side, the pair raced out of their little hunting cabin. There! Heela's eyes landed on the creature that had called out in the night. A wold. Or what looked like a wolf. There was something strange about the way it's front fore legs reached out to walk, the way its back arched like that of a cat. Heela froze, her blood running cold as the beast turned to glare at her and her handler. It's eyes were deep orbs of red, it's maw split into a wicked grin that flashed with wicked, white fangs in the moonlight. Suddenly, the beast charged forward and Heela yelped, doubling back as her human dashed away behind her. It would seem neither had the courage to take the beast on. It was best they get to safety anyways!

Out of respect for the cultures that are intertwined with this cryptic. Along with pure fear from this tall tale; I will not further the information!Though I did find a rather interesting article that go in depth of this being…

Name: Astrid
Name Meaning(s): A norse name meaning "Divinely Beautiful"
Gender: Female
Creature: Chupacabra
Prompt: I may have gone a bit over the word count, hope that's ok! [353/100 words]
xxxxIt was her job to keep the flock safe. Without her, the ugly wolves and mischievous coyotes beyond the fence would eat the goats up like their lives meant nothing. Their lives meant a whole lot to her, to Astrid, whose duty it was to watch over the pasture with every sense she had. Tonight, those very senses that she had so finely tuned to danger were blaring like alarm horns in her ears, pumping her blood faster than a raging waterfall as her lungs filled with a scent she had never smelled before. The night was so dark she could barely see three lengths in front of her nose, and she had been straining her eyes to find the odorous intruder, with no luck. The goats slept in the lean-to, and she did the only thing she could think to do; she counted their heads, over and over.
xxxxOne, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
xxxxOne, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
xxxxOne, two- CRACK!!!
xxxxAstrid spun around so quickly she stepped on the tail of a sleeping kid, who sent its bleat loudly into the night sky. But Astrid was already off, following the source of the noise and the rustling of vegetation as the smelly thing ran from her. She closed the distance, and as it spun in a blur to face her, she let out a fierce growl and a bark that shook her whole body to its very core, but the bark was broken when she saw the beast.
xxxxIt was hideous. Its skin was worse than mange, not only green and hairless, but bubbled over with festering boils, its jagged jaw gaping with slimy teeth, three large fangs protruding slightly forward, and its disturbingly bright yellow eyes fixed her with a stare that made her blood run cold. She couldn't move if she wanted to.
xxxxAstrid could only stand there, teeth bared and head low, frozen in front of the beast until it finally let out a huff of dank air in her face, turned, and slowly made its way back into the forest without glancing back.

Name: amisha
Name Meaning(s): n/a
Gender: female
Creature: not deers
Prompt:
the not deer is a common cryptid known for being, well, not quite right. incidents of seeing this creature have ranged from lethal to just bone-chilling. the creature can be found at any time and in any weather. it was just amisha's luck to see this creature at night, during the start of a nasty blizzard.

the day started normal, the only difference being a sharp and icy smell of snow tanging the air. the weather seemed to be promising a snowstorm later. amisha was used to the snow, she had been an accidental birth during the first snow of a season after all. so, with the promise of a storm, amisha wasn’t too concerned about having to do her work today.

trotting off, tail and head high, she went to go claim a spot for the night. when a snow-down came, all the collies in the sanctum would mark up a bedding spot, no matter the time of day. some even made sure to get one as soon as they woke up. with that in mind, she quickly found an unclaimed bedding in the heated room and rolled her scent on it. most of her work for the day would be done now, the handlers didn’t make the shorter furred dogs work with snowstorms coming.

she decided to spend her free time exploring. her friends would be playing in the fields, but she didn't feel the need to join today. off to the side of the field, a lush pine forest lied. the trees weren't exactly pines, but amisha currently could not recall what her friends said they were. she did, however, remember that she needed to stay on the path. there were stories about nasty things living in the woods. amisha wasn't too concerned about said nasty things, as she never believed in the stories.

the path was layered with patted-down gravel. dogs and other creatures had traveled many times over it. she started at a pace usually labeled as a light jog but slowed in time as the sky grew darker. the sharp smell of snow had become more bitting and the cold in the air more jagged. amisha perked her ears up, a twig to the side of her snapped. animals frequented these woods so she wasn't too concerned about it. but still, her eyes and ears were now on the lookout.

the cold was coming in quicker and the sky was now dark. with the added effects, the trees seemed to loom over her. amisha's walk quickly sped up to a jog again, newfound energy making it easier to go faster. another twig broke. she counted it off as a bunny, trying to get to its burrow. it wasn't until a dark figure blocking the path could be seen, that she realized she should have been more concerned about the twig.

the figure stood tall, with large antlers crowning its head. amisha clocked it off as an overgrown deer and slowly approached. deer or not, the creature was still bigger than her. the first drops of snow landed on her nose and soon after, it came down quicker than she had ever seen. the figure couldn't be seen now. she quickly became panicked and hoping that the deer left the path to get to cover, she started jogging forward.

her idea was quickly proven wrong, as she ran headfirst into the chest of the deer. the force caused her to stumble back onto her bottom. the creature was even bigger than from afar, towering heads above her. she scurried back quickly with her tail tucked. the eyes of this deer glowed red. amisha wanted to run, but fear had her frozen in place. the deer lowed it’s head with its massive horns coming closer to her. once at eye level, the beast bared its lips to reveal massive sharp rows of teeth. it stretched its maw to become larger than her head.

something seemed to snap her out of her frozen stance and she bolted away just before the jaws came crashing down. amisha step sided the creature and quickly dashed down the path, back to the sanctum. the beast let out a vicious roar and swung around to give chase. amisha ran faster than she ever had before, tucking her tail to make sure the deer couldn’t grab it. loose gravel was thrown up by her paws, hitting the beast in the face. this seemed to slow it down. but the snow only grew thicker. soon amisha couldn’t even see her paws stretched out in front of her. the roaring of the deer got lost in the heavy snow.

she ran as fast as her legs would allow, each step heavier than the last. her hope of getting away grew more and more as a light soon appeared through the downfall. she had arrived at the gate leading into the field. amisha dragged herself under it, kicking up snow in her haste. luckily, there wasn’t much snow piled up yet. from this point she knew her way back to the bedding room, even in the dark. a quick run to the shed, she slipped into the doggie door, grateful that it wasn’t locked yet. her claimed bedding was still empty, so she was able to lay right down. exhaustion soon took over.

the next morning, amisha woke to the noise of others getting up. she sleepily blinked herself awake. the memories of the night before quickly came back to her, waking her up quicker than she would have liked. she slowly carried herself out of the bedding and dragged her paws to the doggie door. she pushed herself through, with only slight hesitance. soon through, she wished she didn’t leave the warmth of the shed behind. the snow covered fields were full of deer tracks.

this dude is so cooool aaa!! i love!

Name: Atlas
Name Meaning(s): (optional) Enduring (also means map)
Gender: Male
Creature: Dragon
Prompt:
a dragon is a very large creature, depicted in stories from around the world. descriptions of personality and looks vary. they are usually thought to be destructive, and i believe some are, but i like to think some are gentle as well. they also are usually visualized with scales, but again, i believe that some types can be fluffy like a mammal, or any other texture.

atlas was having a good day so far. he'd gone hunting, bringing back quite a plethora of prey with him. the weather was at a comfortable tempurature as well, not to hot, but not ice cold.

he trotted along the forest floor, hearing the leaves crinkle under his paws. he was content, and in a state of bliss.
suddenly, atlas felt a large gust of wind. he tumbled backwards and looked around, stunned at what had just happened. what could have done that? it didn't feel natural. it had to be some sort of..

gigantic flying reptile in the sky!?

atlas squeaked in fear as he looked up at the creature. it was a big, scaly monster, with gigantic wings, horns, and claws. he felt like it was towering over him, even though it had no clue the collie was there.

the dog took a few steps back, and concealed himself in a bush. the dragon continued to fly around, eventually looking in his direction. atlas stood as still as he possibly could, trying not to be seen.

unfortunately for him, he was a fluffy dog who wasn't exactly made for camoflauging, so the monster spotted him anyways, making atlas almost jump out of his fur. he whined as the dragon came over near him, and looked at him in curiosity.

he stepped out of the bush. was this creature as weirded out as he was right now?

the giant reptile-like being tilted its head at the sight of the small collie. he had to be 50 times the dog's size, possibly more, yet he wasn't using it to an advantage, which shocked atlas. he thought that surely he'd be dead by now, but the creature had proved him wrong, seeming to feel exactly how atlas was feeling.

slowly, the creature crouched down, lowering his wing down to where a dog could reach, gesturing for atlas to climb up. he did just that, feeling the weird, scale-y texture under his pads.

maybe this "monster" wasn't a monster after all. size and appearance doesn't equal personality anyways.
