How Chéri got her call name is simple, she's the light of her owner's life. She's stuck with him through thick and thin since she was a pup. She's helped get her owner through depression, family and relationship issues, job loss, and anxiety. She's always there to pick him back up.

She was only registered fairly recently, and her show name came from recent events. While about to be registered, disaster struck. The early stages of cancer, in both of her owner's grandparents on his mother's side. Her owner was heartbroken and made arrangements to stay with his mother to be closer to his grandparents. However, there was a condition, he couldn't bring Chéri as the mother and a few other family members were deathly allergic to dogs. Her owner was scared to be without his unofficial emotional support dog, but he needed to be there with his grandparents.

It would be too expensive to leave her at a kennel for the indeterminate, but likely large amount of time he would be gone, so a close friend in North America offered to take Chéri in. Registration was finished, and the friend flew in to take her. Her registered name? Je Vous Reverrai, Mon Amour, translating to "I Will See You Again, My Love" in English. Both miss each other, but her name reminds them that after everything is through, they'll be there for each other again.
