Euphorian Thoroughbred #E096

Postby faentofheart » Sun Jun 20, 2021 1:27 pm

Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings, but otherwise, they share the same long, strong legs, powerful hind, and great speed of ordinary Thoroughbreds. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually are somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Pick how your Euphorians move forwards!

To win this horse, tell me about what they're proud of! Minimum 200 words :)

Height: 16.3 hands

Competition: Artie is very proud of the fact that she beat Secretariat's time of 2 minutes and 24 seconds and placed at 2 minutes 22 seconds.

Unfortunately, she had to retire early on due to Chip Fractures, but Artie and her handlers are very proud nonetheless of her almost impossoble accomplishment.

Barn Name: Tarot
Gender: Mare
Height: 16.2hh
Halter: porble pls n thank
Competition: Others often wonder why Tarot spends so much time alone. The truth is, the blue steel colored mare hardly ever seemed to notice that she tended to isolate herself from the rest of her herd. She never felt particularly lonely, however. Although most in her shoes likely would feel that way, Tarot didn't seem like most other horses. Happiness just came easy to her, and Tarot never found herself relying on others to find joy. She could do that all on her own.

It may not seem like much to be proud of, but being able to find joy in one's own company, especially in this day and age, seems ever so elusive. It took awhile for Tarot to realize she was different, and she quite enjoyed this unique aspect of herself. She took pride in steering clear of other's drama, being able to feel comfortable in her own headspace, and feel at peace with her own self. The mare never paid any mind to the odd looks other horse's gave her or any of the rumors they tried to spread about her. Tarot was confident enough in herself that she knew better than to pay any mind to cruel horses around her.

PRETTY MARE!! i'm so happy my flag is getting so much representation this year, i love it! <3

    Username;; galaxyy.
Show Name: MVE Ace of Hearts
    Barn Name: Azra
    Gender: mare
    Height: 17hh
Halter: white with an purple noseband and silver hardware!
    Competition:

xxxxazra has done several things in her life that are worthy of her pride. to begin with, she is proud of her quick recovery upon arriving at MVE. she used to be a racehorse at a prestigious stable which housed some of the best racehorses in the country. she quickly found out that she could not quite keep up in the racing world, especially after one race—one which would later end up being determined her last—put her on stall rest for several long months. she spent most of this time pacing in her stall, worrying that she'd disappointed her owners and feeling as though she wasn't worthy of residing in this stable. about halfway through this recovery period, the barn managers had begun to grow restless and weren't sure what to do with her, as it was clear that she wouldn't make a good racehorse. she considered herself lucky when someone at MVE took interest in her. maple valley equestrian is a stable which focuses on rehabilitating ex-racehorses, as it is part of the euphorian retired racehorse project. she would soon discover that the people there work with horses like her to figure out which alternative career path would be the best suited to the equine at hand and train them to become the best of the best. for example, one horse she would later meet, khan, had trained to become a mounted search and rescue horse. he had found a home in the wilderness, in the great expanse of the untamed. his new career allowed him to save lives, although it meant he typically wasn't home, since he often had to visit the off-property training facilities and go on rescue missions.

xxxxaz didn't feel as though that field was her calling, however. after some trial and error in dressage and a variety of more laid back paths like trail riding—which didn't go so well, to say the least (i mean seriously, who just leaves big scary plastic bags flapping around in dark corners? how did the trail horses do it?)—she discovered that she was particularly good at jumping. her riders threw around the term 'hunter jumper.' eventually, she got to the point where her trainers wanted to try her out in the hunter ring to see how she would do. being an ex-racehorse, az was used to commotion. the show ground's constant hum reminded her of the racetrack; it was nothing new. what unnerved her was the fact that all of these people were watching her every move and judging her based on the way she jumped and if her trot was a tad too slow and if her canter covered enough ground. there was only one rule of thumb at the racetrack: go fast. here, there were too many new rules and regulations to count: her tack had to be perfectly polished; her rider must be wearing a certain color jacket; she couldn't put one foot out of line if she wanted to place in her classes. it was so strikingly... different from what she was used to, definitely way out of her comfort zone. she tried her best anyway. in her very first hunter division class, she got reserve champion. this was a very exciting turn of events, one that she is still very proud of to this day. in fact, this was probably the turning point in azra's career that made her realize that she could actually accomplish a lot if she put the work in to make a difference.

xxxxthe red, yellow, and white ribbon she received from the judge garnered attention. the owner of MVE, eve, took great interest in azra. she mainly rode hunter jumpers and the newfound success of this little prodigy had not escaped her attention. it took some getting used to, but eventually, az found herself flourishing thanks to eve's helping hand. she had begun to ride her daily, alternating between flatwork and jumping. quite frankly, she was amazed that eve was taking time out of her tight schedule to ride her, to show her the ropes of this entirely new discipline, to patiently correct her mistakes until she no longer made them. soon enough, eve decided az was ready to be tested in the show ring once again, but this time significantly more prepared. needless to say, the two of them outdid the entire division, coming home with a big blue, red, and yellow ribbon to signify their grand champion placement. the cheers and pats following that announcement were something az would never forget; their shared triumph had engraved itself in her memory forever. from that moment on, azra officially sealed her spot as eve's prized hunter horse. they moved up their way up in divisions and didn't falter in their victories. even when they placed slightly lower than they'd hoped, eve wouldn't let az beat herself up over it—it happens. they celebrated their wonderful rides and the fun they'd had, enjoying their top placements when possible, rather than allowing themselves to get upset at how picky a judge was over something that one other rider may have pulled off slightly better. like eve would always say, 'shoot for the moon and land among the stars.' az is very proud to be able to say that she is good enough for eve to take such interest in her.

xxxxaz is also proud of herself for staying strong and being a good partner to eve. one time, eve suffered a pretty bad fall from one of the other horses she rode and wasn't able to ride for a little while. unfortunately, this was really bad timing; regionals was only a few weeks away. this incident forced az to keep her head high and stay fit for the moment eve was able to get back to practice. she couldn't let this setback get in the way of their dreams. the second eve was deemed well enough to ride, they picked up their training again. with a lot of effort and hard work, eve and az caught back up to where they would've been at that point if nothing had halted their progress. their work paid off, as the pair placed in the top of their classes at regionals and qualified for nationals. they did so well that they even earned a comment on their performance from the judge. if az hadn't worked as hard as she did to catch up, they likely wouldn't have even placed at regionals. she's definitely proud of how well they performed.

xxxxalong with her success as a team member, az is proud of her own individual achievements. since she arrived at MVE, az has accomplished so much. for starters, in the local shows, az has completely dominated the competition. she regularly steals the show in the hunter ring, making both eve and her barn look excellent. the judges love her: the flashy blue coat, the enchanting amethyst eyes, the lovely hunter trot, the powerful jump. all of her hard work switching disciplines has paid off. when her show name appears on the class register alongside eve grey, competitors sigh, knowing they have no chance of taking home the blue, red, and yellow ribbon. the roar of the crowd after each victory is announced is music to her ears, the pats after a winning trip in the show ring feel like heaven, the sensation of realizing that all the days spent training under the blistering sun were so very worth it is as refreshing as cold water on a sweltering summer day. shows are azra's chance to prove that she belongs, to prove that she is worthy of the special attention and training, to prove to that anything is possible when you have a strong work ethic and a little bit of help here and there.

xxxxanother thing az is proud of herself for is discovering her identity. as a filly, she was pressured to love. the other foals were always badgering her about crushes, interrogating her to no end. it started quietly: the odd mention of a crush on this colt or even this filly, whispered compliments of that coat or those eyes. slowly, as her friends grew older, the conversations became more frequent. "those stallions are so handsome!" or "that mare is gorgeous!" no matter the gender, everyone liked someone. all she received when she tried to explain that she didn't like anybody in that way were strange looks and eye rolls. it was as if no one understood what she was talking about. after her stall was moved to the intermediate training barn, she found herself to be pasture mates with a few other mares. one in particular caught her interest. az had been half-asleep, barely listening to the idle conversation and tuning them out in favor of the gentle lull of slumber; however, one word made its way through her mental barrier: asexual. after a moment's contemplation, she blinked her heavy eyes open and singled out the mare who'd mentioned the term. she would later seek her out and have a lengthy conversation over its meaning and significance. at first, after hearing the definition, she thought it meant all-or-nothing. she thought you could only identify as ace if you didn't have feelings toward anyone at all. once the other mare clarified that it was a spectrum, that there were different types of attraction, that you could still find others aesthetically pleasing without actually wanting a romantic relationship with them, everything fell into place for az. for all of her life up to this point, she had thought something was wrong with her. she was called a late bloomer or crazy for not having 'normal' feelings. now, it made a lot more sense: she simply didn't find others attractive in that way. she was on the ace spectrum.

xxxxfinally, az is proud to be considered an example to those around her. given her successes and accomplishments, several younger horses look up to her. she's glad to be able to serve as a role model and to be living proof that even if the future seems bleak, you can still succeed. you just need to find the right place for you to do so and, sometimes, you may need a little bit of a push. az has found a home at MVE and takes great pride in her work with eve, both in the victories themselves and the example it sets for those who follow.

Show Name: SCS Don't Talk To Me
Barn Name: Sadie
Gender: Mare
Height: 16.0 hh
Halter: flag's purple tone/silver hardware
Competition: (305 words - assuming you really did mean minimum 200 and not max 200!)
Sadie is very proud of her new life after retiring from racing, and how she got there. She was unfortunately very badly injured, which ended her racing days, and it took a very long time to return from it. All four legs had slab fractures or bone chips after being serially overworked by irresponsible owners, and she suffered quite a bit of pain, making her lame, and by extension, running slowly enough she got retired from the track.

It took almost a year and an extremely patient new owner with a bit of veterinary experience, along with advice from several professionals, in order to heal Sadie. She had a long period of rest, then came back into light work, staying there for quite some time, until everything inside could be healed up, her stitches dissolved, and the grittier details of surgeries sorted themselves out, and then she was healthier than ever and ready to go again!

Sadie's new owners found out that she is not particularly good at anything, but this is not a bad thing, because nothing's better than a horse that can be at least somewhat good... at everything. She makes a wonderful teacher for the younger kids, working as a low level competition horse in several disciplines, including hunt-jump, jump classes, trails, beginner dressage, and almost anything else her beloved lesson kids set their minds to. Because of her sweet disposition and the fact that she very, very rarely rows frustrated and quits before her rider does, she is a barn favorite, and lives a life of luxury. She no longer has to worry about overwork, the healed injuries of her past, or what she'll be doing and where she'll be going the next day. She has a home, and she's very, very proud of how she got herself there.
