Prompt:What is this collie's opinion on "Love at first sight"? You may tell this by description or through a story extract. Word limit of 50 - 500 words.Tavish fell in love slowly, but to someone he never predicted he would have, and so he heavily disbelieves in the idea of love at first sight, thinking it could even limit those you be with if you only stayed with those you are drawn to at first.
His first, and as it currently stands, only love was a rowdy boy by the name of Thane (
this collie, if I get him!). Thane and Tavish are polar opposites. Tavish enjoys serenity, he's quiet and withdrawn and only speaks when he feels he must convey a thought or idea. He is a stickler for following rules. Thane speaks every word that comes to his brain, and couldn't fathom living by the rules of others, or writing his own, he is as free as the wind.
The two met as pups, their ranches being close by, Thane often ran over from his to play with Tavish's much larger family, and to slack off from his work and dodge ever having to be sold. They did not get along for quite some time, Tavish despised Thane's lack of work ethic, his chaotic nature, how loud he would bark and howl. It was truly, the most annoying thing, Tavish thought.
But over time, as Thane mellowed, somewhat, and as they hung out more and got to know each other, Tavish didn't find Thane all that bad. Yeah, he never worked for longer than a few minutes at a time before getting bored or distracted, but he would only try to convince Tavish of doing the same if he was overworking himself, caring enough about what Tavish wanted to not impede upon that. Thane even listened, sometimes, and would find work more enjoyable if he did it with Tavish, and so they became a great team. Most of the time, at least.
They worked well together, running between both of their ranches. Tavish had started to debate telling Thane how he really felt about them, but he waited to long, and Thane disappeared.
He later found out that he had been sold, as his owners moved. And would also later found out that Thane's owners told Tavish's where they sold him, incase they ever needed to sell Tavish as well. But he wouldn't know this until much later.
When Thane disappeared, it was sudden and without warning, and Tavish couldn't figure out what had happened. It distressed him deeply, and he worked himself to the bone to ignore those feelings. He would barely eat or sleep, or focus on anything else other than distracting himself with Something to do, until he was informed that he was, also, being sold.
He didn't think it was possible to make it back to Thane, but he did, and once again, before he could announce his own feelings, Thane beat him to it.
The two have been an inseparable pair ever since their rejoining, they work great together and are never seen herding without the other.
