Pop music echoed through the studio as Lexi turned on her speakers. Slow and emotional, yet catchy, the song was a great track to use for her ballet routine. Slippers fit snug around her paws, allowing her to move smoothly across the wooden flooring that had become worn down overtime by countless dances. She had never enjoyed written choreography; instead, she followed the music as it flowed through her veins and rattled her bones. Jete, pique, pirouette, and saute. Each step fell into a pattern, and the patterns Lexi liked were stored in her memory for future use.
Through thin walls echoed the music, until picked up by the ears of another kalon. Eve felt her front paws move with the song as she sculpted her next pottery masterpiece. With every lyric, she tried to mimic something within the clay. With every beat, her muscles responded with an action. Scoring, smoothing, modeling, the music dictated what she would do next. It meant each piece was very different, because no song she heard was ever the same as the last. Ceramics lined the walls of her home, and it was almost as if she could hear the pieces singing whenever she retired for the night. Eve felt she had mastered her craft.
As the song came to a close, both kalons followed suit; the dancer, stopping to take a water break, and the potter, waiting patiently for the next serenade to begin. That is, until she decided to take matters into her own hands.
Lexi took in a long draw from a bottle as she reclined over wooden bleachers. They were old and uncomfortable, but she was too drained to care. Sun shone in from the windows to reveal a view that could have entranced anyone who gazed upon it. Lexi quickly fell victim to the sight, but was brought out of it with the sound of footsteps up to the studio entrance.
Eve stood awkwardly under the door frame, fidgeting her paws hardened with drying clay. She looked at the kalon in front of her. They appeared almost identical, except where her patterns were red and orange, the stranger's were gray. She cleared her throat and focused her gaze on a pair of pink eyes.
"Hello, I, uhm, I wanted to know if you could put your music back on, and maybe turn it up this time?"
The gray kalon looked a bit confused for a moment, but in an instant her face was glowing with happiness, indicating just how elated the query made her.
"Of course! Why do you ask though?"
Although the question made Lexi ecstatic, she was no less a bit confused by the odd request.
"Well, it sounds strange," Eve continued, "but I work through it. It's a huge part of my pieces, and I was on a roll there." She let out a small chuckle.
"Say no more my friend, happy to oblige. The name's Lexi. And you are?"
"Eve, very nice to meet you."
