He is an entomologist, beekeeper and fruit enthusiast!
A fan of all things buggy, he spends extensive amounts of time documenting bug species and making drawings or photographs of each he finds. Dewey loves bees, flies, spiders, moths, and any other sort of bug- however, his favorite has always been butterflies. He's the sort to buy fake prints of pinned butterflies (he would never keep real dead bugs on his wall- he doesn't mind other people doing it, but it just makes him sad to see). Though Dewey could never pick just one bug as his favorite, he does have a few favorite species, such as the
Chalkhill Blue butterfly, the
Meadow Brown butterfly, and the
Red Admiral butterfly.
Dewey adores keeping bees- tending to his hive is always priority, he loves the bees so much and would hate to disappoint them. Having a hive means he can get very close to his bees to draw or photograph them! He gives names to the bees sometimes and has himself convinced he can remember them all and tell the bees apart (he can't, but nobody has told him otherwise). Honey has been one of Dewey's favorite foods since he was young, so being able to get fresh honey is great to him- he eats honey on with his food all the time, and honeybuns and other honey themed treats are his favorite.
Speaking of treats Dewey enjoys, fruit is always on top pick for his meals. Apples, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and anything else he can find in the grocery store. He tries his best to grow strawberries and blackberries in his yard; he has pomegranate bushes and a peach tree as well. Despite his attempts, he's terrible at growing the plants; Dewey forgets to water them and would hate to kill any bugs that eat them. Because of this, he usually buys fruit from stores- he doesn't mind it though, and when he can eat fruit from his garden, he assures everyone else it's the best he's ever had. He especially enjoys fruit themed baked goods, and bakes fruit pies and other treats all the time! He often gifts these to friends; he has a bit of a hobby for baking, but doesn't think he's very good at it. He doesn't have that much time to work on trying to make new baked goods anyway because of all of his other hobbies.
