this fox and key competition is going to be a little different!
in a way, these will be semi-customs made by yours truly.
you will need to provide an image to be used as inspiration for each floc.
this MUST be a still image. GIFs or animated PNGs are not accepted.

this is also a partner competition! in order to compete, you will need a partner to enter.
to apply, you both must write or draw about 98 and 99's relationship to each other. this relationship can be anything of your choosing, such as siblings, sworn enemies, competing rivals, lovers, et cetera, so long as they know each other in some way.

this can be done through a comic-strip format or writing.
you are limited to 5 panels or 1000 words of writing per floc.
comic strips should have less than 150 words total.

EDIT: single entrants are now allowed as well. the above content criteria apply.
if you plan on entering as a single entrant, just remove the information from floc 99 from the form.
you will only be eligible to win a single floc.

bonus points will be given to forms that are particularly creative or inventive with the format.
extras are not allowed. please keep coding to a minimum -- it will not increase your chances of winning.

Prompt: Errol and Galactic Fire are leaders of their own lands. Errol is in charge of the earth, while Galactic reigns in the skies. In the beginning, they had always fought to prove that one of them was stronger, but all it did was provoke war after war, and the death of many living creatures.
Seeing the destruction of her land, Errol’s heart shattered. Finally putting her pride aside, she tried to relent to Galactic’s ways. Because of this, she noticed that whenever Galactic sent rain down, her crops prospered. And Galactic realised that without the wars and destruction on Earth, her skies weren’t polluted anymore, and it became so much cleaner and beautiful.

They finally came to a realisation that one could not exist without the other.

Brief update!
Extending the competition out one week! It will now end on March 7th.

I am also allowing for single entrants now, as well. You may apply for only one floc, however.
The criteria are still the same per person -- 5 panels of comic with 150 words or less OR 1000 words of writing.

I do also want to emphasize that you MUST meet canon requirements in order to be eligible to win.

Floc 98 Name: Lark

Prompt: Lark bounded through the forrest alongside her keyholder, a girl of 18 years old, Nina. The pair were on their daily morning jog before Nina had to go into classes at college. When Nina first found the key, she had been in a bit of a rebellious phase at the age of 16. She had few friends that were a good influence on her, and would often times fight with her parents. Nina had been lost, just trying to find her place in the world. Likewise Lark had also been looking to find her key, so that she could unlock her true powers and potential. Both of them needed eachother. Nina begged her parents to let her keep Lark and be her keyholder. After several months of begging and proving to her parents she could be responisble, they agreed to let her be Lark's keyhole. Over the next couple of years she started attending class, doing homework, repairing her relationship with her parents, and ended up finding new friends to hang around that were a better influence on her life. Nina vowed to herself to help Lark on her journey to unlocking her powers. In order to do so she applied to a college near home so she could commute, as having a "pet" on campus was prohibited.

Lark and Nina have been on many adventures together already, and they look forward to all their adventures in the future. They often visit the flea markets to buy handcrafted jewelry and trinkets. Sometimes they go out into the forest and up in the mountains to find items to help unlock Lark's powers. Nina tries to do everything she can to stay on a good path, and lead Lark in the right direction. She has done as much "research" as she could to learn about flox. It's safe to say that Lark and Nina have become very close in their two years together. Nina keeps Lark's key in it's box, in a secret spot. When she is feeling down or lost she'll occasionally open the box and admire the key made of rose quartz. It helps her clear her head, and remind her why she's doing what she's doing.

Nina is nearing her spring break, and has planned a big adventure planned. She and a few friends have decided to take a trip to Japan. She intends to take Lark with her to visit the shrines and hike the mountains in search of some more items for Lark. Her friends have actually agreed to keep them company on this big adventure, and help whenever they can!

When Nina got home from school she rushed to find Lark and tell her the news. As she walked up the driveway, she saw Lark sitting in her bedroom window waiting for her as always. Seeing Lark jump down from the windowsill and disappear, a smile grew on Nina's face.

She burst through the door, "Lark!"

Lark approached Nina with a swish of her tail, "Welcome home Nina."

"Guess what?!" Nina giggled softly.

"What is it?" Lark tilted her head to the side curiously.

"I have a huge adventure planned for us!" Nina exclaimed excitedly.

Lark's tail swayed excitedly, "Adventure?! Where?! Where?! Tell me!"

Nina laughed at the excitement in Lark's words as they sounded in her mind, "We're going to Japan!"

Lark circled Nina radiating excitement, "Omg! Omg! Omg! No way! I can't wait! When are we going?!"

Nina smiled softly, "next week! We board the plane on my last day of school for the semester."

Lark "paced" back and forth, "I have to wait a whole week?!"

"Impatient much?" Nina chuckled to herself.

Lark shook her head, "excited! Not impatient!"

"Oh Lark. Don't worry. It will be here before you know it! We'll have plenty of fun to make the time pass quicker in the meantime."

"Promise?"

"I promise, Lark. Speaking of fun, how about we go check out that cave that we found the other day?"

Lark raced out the door, "race you to the tree line slow poke!"

"Hey! That's cheating!" Nina laughed as she chased Lark.

The week went by quickly filled with hikes and flea market trips. Before either of them knew it they were on the plane with Nina's friends headed to Tokyo, the first stop in their three week stay in Japan. [724/100]

Prompt: There's been this odd floc I keep crossing paths with lately. I don't know their name, or much more than their presence, but they keep cropping up lately. I might only now be noticing them. It's possible we've been intersecting longer. In retrospect, I think I recall them in earlier memories, far away, looming like a spirit. I only started to notice them recently, because I was at the lake early one morning, watching the sunrise and the ducks swimming in their hypnotic ovals. Nature has always been calming for me, when my mind is wash with thoughts of panic and mental clutter. I enjoy going out early to be alone with it, for where my key holder lives, there's few other natural respites amidst the city. Don't misunderstand, I do enjoy the city-- it's lively, colorful and energetic, but at times it can be overwhelming for my senses and my mind. In times like that, this lakeside park is a haven for me, a welcome abode and respite. It's a usual routine of mine, and I know it very well, so it struck me as quite odd that there was another there. A floc, looming just out of view, and one who I'd never seen before. They were watching the ducks, too, I believe. I wondered what else one would be doing at such an hour, without their holder or any company but themselves. I took a note of them then, because of the odd circumstance, and then went on my merry way. I didn't want to intrude on their morning sanctuary any more than I wanted anyone to intrude on mine, though I wasn't angry with them for it. The lake is a good spot, after all. In any case, I left, and I thought that was the end of it. But no-- later that day when my key holder was out and about, I noticed them again. We were at the grocery store picking up consumables, and then who else passes us but this very same floc? An odd happenstance, for the same day, sure. But only a coincidence. At least, that's what I thought several weeks ago. It's been every day since that we've crossed paths, not interacting nor saying anything to one another, just noticing the oddity and passing on. It's just enigmatic, and bizarre... It has me thinking about things more recently. I wonder how long they've been here, and I just did not happen to notice? My key holder is fond of dialogue about fate, and I wonder if that is a part of what this is. Perhaps we are interconnected in that web of infinite strings... I only wonder how, precisely. I've not yet worked up the nerve to say anything to them. Whenever I consider reaching out telepathically, I reconsider. There is something daunting about it now that I've noticed our strange, perhaps cosmically ordained proximity to one another. I will soon, however... the mystery is too sweet to ignore forever. But what are they, to me? A mirror, perhaps? I've heard tale of such-- people who perfectly foil one another. Perhaps there is a floc who is my inverse counterpart? Perhaps... Either way, for now my conclusion is this-- there is a mysterious floc who I see everywhere, who also sees me, and I cannot make heads nor tails of them, though they are a mainstay in my thoughts these days... This floc is a mystery to me, and they have me utterly enthralled.
