dachsflame’s are a quadruped cave dwelling species. an off-shoot of the modern day badger, these creatures dully make their homes underground and rarely leave unless migrating. Because of the environment the dachsflame’s live in, they are small, about 2 feet in height, they have such poor eyesight that many are blind; their pupils are pale, and sometimes even different colors from the iris' themselves. dachsflame’s are insectivores and are seldom carnivorous.
dachsflame’s coats are dark colors to blend into the caverns around them. their underbellies are darker than the rest of their bodies. on their head they have pale almost white markings on their muzzle and on their cheeks.
one unique feature of dachsflame’s are the flames. the flames light the caverns so that they can see with what poor eyesight they have, and it also works to draw certain insects out for heat and/or light. these flames generally range from green, blue, and purple.
