Prompt: Vincent's life has always been a bit of a tough one, when he was simply two weeks old, he had fallen sick for a few days and had to be fed 'round the clock by his old owner, when he was fourteen months old, he was given away to the local animal shelter- his owners unable to keep him any longer as they were moving, he was there for two weeks when the shelter had to close down, and he was rescued the next day by Gabe- his new owner at Polar North. Two weeks into his new life, he had managed to get lost while trailing behind a horse during a ride, and was lost for fourteen hours in the wilderness. Vincent had never put two and two together until one day, October 14th, he had the worst luck of all- Someone had left the gate open to the horse pasture, causing one of the horses to bolt out and into the unknown, and Vincent had to track them down. He was terrified, remembering what it was like the last time he was lost in the woods, but carried on in search of his friend, he fell down, he fell into puddles and even a small pond at one point, and to beat it all, it was snowing. When he finally came home with his friend, he was freezing cold, soaking wet and miserable, but he found his buddy just in time. Ever since then, the number fourteen has been the bane of Vincent's existence and certainly the cause of all of his bad luck ever. (267/300)

Patient has been bad luck since birth. She was born in a litter of nine to a backyard breeder, and due to their negligence, she was the single survivor. Her mother passed in the traumatic birth despite the veterinary clinic's best efforts. She found herself hand raised by an adoptive family, but her upbringing would not be easy. Patient was hailed a fragile puppy; pneumonia plaguing her, then parvovirus. She fought her hardest to survive and by some stroke of luck (or perhaps spite for her situation) she overcame it all. She showed promise as a freestyle disc dog in her youth, only to tear both ACLs. It seemed no matter what, bad luck hung over her like a dark cloud.

The worst part of all of her luck was her inability to land a single home. She was plucked from a breed-specific rescue by Boghound, but even then, trying to get her home was a challenge. She ended up escaping her transport and wandering the countryside of North Louisiana for months. By the time she was finally recaptured, Patient was ragged and her beautiful curls were matted. She ended up shaved and finally brought to her final resting place to live out her golden years; hopefully in better luck.

Akuun has been cautiously optimistic her whole life, it seems a grey cloud follows her around. Her bad luck was limited to missteps in mud puddles and being just a single point off to get a qualifying score in the different sports she played. However, the day of her greatest misfortune was quite a bit different.
This day was her 5th MACH attempt. She had come close with two 2nd places already and was confident this round would be the one. Her jumps were flawless, she weaved effortlessly, and made every contact. Her score was revealed: 100. Her and the Quixilver crew were all jumping with joy! They exit the area and watch the following runs. Almost everyone is doing great but no other perfect scores.
It’s the end of the day and the final run; a beautiful long haired collie struts egotistically to his start line. He passes a cheeky glance at Akuun before getting his release cue. This dog looked like he was floating through the course, like nothing troubled him. Another dog on the sidelines leans over to Akuun, “this is the dog that hasn’t had a single NQ in his career”. Her heart sinks and ears ring. The judges announce: 100.
It’s time for a tie breaker. It will be a coin flip, and Akuun is chosen to make the call. The coin is flipped high into the air. “Tails!” It feels like slow motion while they wait for it to come down. It bounces on the turf and lands upright, slowly spinning down to what’s going to be tails! Right then, a massive gust of wind came from the side. There was no way. It had blown the coin over to head. Akuun was gutted.
To this day she still hasn’t received her MACH.

Prompt: The fog tickled his scrunched nose as the moon rose higher into the dim night sky. The soggy leaves mashed and crashed underneath his paws as he ventured farther away from his home and farther into the mysterious fields of corn. The cornstalks swayed lightly with the wind and the leaves brushed up against his coat and he jolted in slight shock. His thoughts raced through his head as the silence lurked. The moon faintly gleamed through the night fog. He looked up as an owl smoothly glided through the night sky. His breaths began to speed up and he sped up his casual creeping stroll to a speedy scooting through the cornstalks. A loud snap came from one of the other rows and Wonder immediately snapped his head over towards the direction which he heard the sound come from. He slowed down to a slow, stealthy crawl and his ears were engaged. A couple cornstalks appeared to have been gnawed on and there were several chewed pieces of corn on the ground. Wonder halted and began to sniff the remains for any traces of other creatures. There was an array of smells scattered all over the remnants. Some were more interesting than others. Such as the traces of wolves alongside the scents of rats and other feral creatures. Wonder then heard a rifle clock above his head and looked up to see a tall, dark figure standing menacingly with it pointed at him. He then bolted into a full-on sprint away from the dark figure as gunshots rang out in the pitch-black darkness. Yelling and cursing flooded Wonder’s ears as his heart pounded and thoughts raced. He felt a burning sting on his back leg, and something had gashed it. He just wanted to get home.
