Sauce felt a lot of things about her father, many of them overwhelmingly good. They've always had a perfect relationship, since she was a small pup he always put his best foot forward when taking care of her and always made sure to put her first. While this was great and all she could ever ask for in a father figure, this was exactly what the problem was becoming. Sauce was growing up and her father couldn't seem to get a good handle on how to start learning to let her go.

Sauce wanted to go out more, be free to roam around her neighborhood without her father keeping such a watchful eye over her. It's not like he was overbearing, she knew deep down that this was coming from a place of love and care, but god was it annoying to have him wanting to take her everywhere like she was still a pup! Most of her friends were able to come and go as they pleased and some even poked fun at her for having to ask her father for things still.

So that's why one day she snuck out of the house and booked it to the nearest dog park. She met up with a bunch of her friends from training school and had an amazing time zipping through the obstacle courses, playing tug of war, and fetching a frisbee for some of the neighborhood children! She decided to make her way home after a couple hours of tuckering herself out. She pranced up her steps and slid through the dog door, stopping in her tracks when she looked up to see her father sitting there waiting for her.

She promptly sat down and curled her tail around herself, waiting to hear the worst of it. "Where have you been and why do I smell other dogs on you hm?" Sauce frowned and began to absentmindedly lick her paw.

"I went to the dog park! Is that not ok? Am I not allowed to go out and have fun with my friends for a couple hours without you breathing down my neck?" She huffed, glad to finally get out what had been weighing on her chest for weeks. What she didn't expect however was her father's somber expression.

"Applesauce, honey I know that I've been a bit overprotective and I understand how hard it can be to deal with a parent like that but, please understand that I'm struggling too. I'm trying to learn that my little girl is growing up way faster than I know how to cope with. It feels like yesterday we were just learning how to play tug of war and napping with each other by the lake and now you'd rather spend time with your friends. I'm lonely but ultimately I know that you need to be a teenager and have fun while learning to be independent. I'll stop lecturing you know but please, next time, just let me know where you're going."

Sauce felt her heart swell in her chest. She had spent all this time being angry with her father, for something that he couldn't control and frankly, was understandable. She got up from her spot, walked over to him, and gave him the biggest cuddle she could manage. "I'm sorry for worrying you dad. I'll be sure to let you know where I run off to next time! Why don't we take a nap together while the sun is still up? I'm exhausted and could use some quality time with you!"

Her dad smiled at her, something that made her feel like she was home, and they walked outside to lay together under the sun.

I want to go with a very obnoxious "in your face" kind of neon green for the harness! biscuit and i talked and we both think it would be funny and very fitting so that bailey wouldn't lose sight of sauce too easy. thank you so much again!!
