Competition: Olive is a calm collected mare with a sweet disposition but you don’t want to go up against her in a show. Olive and her rider Sasha are a amazing team and have brought home many metals and trophies but her first show was certainly not her best.
She had been wonderful all through the morning and for the warm up but maybe it was the crowds or perhaps being alone in a huge ring but for one reason or another Olive wasn’t herself. Her gaits where stiff and uneven and she refused to stop on command. Sasha struggled through, knowing that the results would be disappointing. She finally got Olive to backup and relax a little but it was much to late in their routine to make up for Olives strange behavior. As they exited Sasha’s trainer met them ready to discuss what had happened.
Olive has never acted this way again and for all we know she could have just been having a bad day, but one things for sure. Sasha and Olive both shook off that bad performance and look back at it as a learning experience. No ones first time is perfect and you can beat yourself up for it or you can move on and learn from past mistakes.
