Darius might not seem that nice or approachable at first, but if you spend time to get to know him, you'll discover that under all his snarky remarks and grumpiness lies a humble and fun-loving keldine! He's usually quiet and won't add anything to a conversation if he has nothing important to say, but he'll happily chat about anything with his friends - the few he has left, that is. But he mostly travels alone nowadays.

The scars on his paw came from when he tried and failed to save a friend from falling down a cliff during a quest with his small group of friends. One of the members of the group turned on them and managed to push his friend to the ledge, where they slipped and eventually fell down.
Darius still hopes that his friend is still alive despite how unlikely it is.

[for the sake of not getting confused:
Group: A, Orpheus, Mulch, and Darius]
They were bringing back some powerful artifact to this old keldine when Orpheus decided he wanted to keep it to himself. The group was traveling in an area where if you fell, the chances of you surviving are very low, and starting an argument there which will most definitely lead to a fight is a terrible idea. But Orpheus just had to bring it up there, of course.
So thanks to Mulch's confrontational personality, the argument developed into a fight, Orpheus managed to push Mulch far enough that Mulch slipped. Darius showed Orpheus out of the way and tried hard to bring his friend back up. He told Mulch to bite his paw to have at least something to grab into, but in the end it wasn't enough.
Seeing how Orpheus fled and disappeared, A and Darius were left with no artifact to finish their task, a new goal to hunt down Orpheus, and a scar that reminds Darius of a terrible event.
