It actually wasn't that hard, since they already trusted humans enough, but here's how it went:
This dog is a bit shy, and didn't understand why they'd been sent away by their humans...I started out by sitting down with a few friends and letting Jesse just walk around. Soon enough, they were coming near enough for us to drop treats once in awhile. After awhile, I was able to reach out and pet them. After that, I brought them to the rooms they were allowed in, showing them those and giving them treats. They really like me now.

Pumpkin Spice has always had a hard time trusting people. Pumpkin didn’t even trust her last owner, she is very shy and has always had trust issues. She has trust issues because when she was very little, loud noises were always around her, she would find a place to hide, whether it was in a corner or under a box. But when she was given to her last owner, any small noise would trigger her into mega panic mode. Now that she is here, she is terrified. But she has a weakness, swimming. She was managed to be trained to swim in the pool and hear the sounds that would originally send her running. She was trained to now not be afraid of the sounds that used to make her afraid. She has learned to trust instead of hiding.

Poor Minnie seemed so confused when she got here. She would dash to the door or window any time she heard someone approaching. I guess she was expecting to see her owners arriving to take her home.

She seemed to hate being alone though- she followed me from room to room, like a little red shadow. At first she kept a wary distance, dashing away when she heard someone coming up the drive. She warmed up to me pretty quickly, though... The treats and ear scratches probably helped. She's such a social, friendly dog- all it took was a week or so and she seemed perfectly content with me in her new home.

Next thing I knew she had jumped on my lap, licking my hand as a sign of appreciation. I wasn’t exactly looking to adopt a dog today… but I’ll make an exception, just for little Fiona…
