Mishima was having a normal day unlike any other, hopping onto his usual train. As he entered, he noticed an open bag on an empty seat, a strange glow emanating from inside. As the curious kalon he is, he decided to reach inside, and suddenly he was standing outside his house. Mishima was extremely confused as he looked at the object held in hand. What the heck- I was just on the train, and now I’m somehow at my house? Mishima decided to analyze the shard inside, seeing if he could learn about it a little more. He knew for a fact that he technically stole it, but the train was long gone by now. Getting an oven mitt and knife (just in case), he lightly poked it. It just stood there, doing nothing. That’s weird, how come it worked before? Thinking that he broke it, he picked it up with his covered paw. For some odd reason, it suddenly worked, glowing extremely bright, feeling as bright as the sun itself. Mishima covered his eyes and when it stopped, he opened them. He was somewhere completely different than his living room. It wasn’t like any city he has seen. Mishima walked around the area, trying to grasp where in the world this shard has brought him. It was definitely less crowded than his normal overpopulated city, which made him even more stressed because there wasn’t anyone around that he could ask. “WILL ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THE HECK I AM??” he yelled as loud as he could. All of a sudden, another kalon appeared out of nowhere.

“Hello there. You have passed through the rift. I will take you to the Sun God,” said the weird kalon.

“Wait wait wait, Sun god? Did I hear you right?” asked a confused Mishima.

“Yes,” the kalon said, latching onto Mishima’s arm and dragging him along. He was shortly brought to a large golden palace, a bright light on the throne.

“Who dares disturb me?” snapped an obviously annoyed Sun God.

“I-It was me sir,” Mishima said, shaking.
“May I ask, for what reason you came here?”

“U-uh this random shard brought me here..”

“I see. I ask that you leave at once and return that shard to the messenger that you took it from,” said the Sun God, who immediately teleported him out of the sun kingdom. Mishima didn’t even get to process what the Sun God said, but was shaking so much. How in the world can I explain that I met the hecking Sun God??? Will anyone believe me?? Probably not, but I remember him saying something about a messenger. With that thought, Mishima decided to wrap up the shard and leave it in front of the train station that he originally found it from. This was an experience that was somewhat fun but also extremely terrifying for him.

I love this city.

Helene allowed herself a small grin as she sauntered down the street. Others thronged around her, vibrant cloaks swirling about them, elaborate jewelry sparking in the lanternlight. Where else could a thief stroll about in plain sight?

She could feel the weight of her quarry in her satchel, tucked snugly beneath her silky golden cape. Helene winked and waved at passersby, allowing herself to get lost in the decadent atmosphere. She’d be able to saunter right out of the city gates like this. Built on and around the discovery of a famously rich mine, the city’s wealth had never quite faded, though the mine’s resources were long exhausted. Individuals kept a tight watch on their own wealth, but the system as a whole was disorganized and piecemealed, everyone out for themselves and their prize. Helene’s prize tonight was a particularly special one- one that would set her up for life.

I hate this city.

Irene tucked her cloak further around her, gazing dispassionately around at the rest of the revelers. Idiots. Throwing parties for some made-up reason or another every night, it seemed. They were careless, the whole lot of them. Providing ample opportunity for thieves like her.

A flash of gold caught her eye, drawing Irene’s attention. A tall kalon, hair pulled back messily, wearing a sparking gold cape and striding purposely through the crowd. The rest of them didn’t notice it, content in their foolishness as they were. But Irene could recognize another thief when she saw one. This kalon was scanning the street intently, as though searching for a way out.
Interesting.

She slipped nimbly from her place leaning on a wall, her dark blue cloak pooling around her, making her way toward the figure. A few steps away. There she was, taller than Irene, but with a practiced calm she was familiar with- the kind of outward calm that masked a triumphant thief. Irene smiled to herself, coldly.

“Oh! I’m so sorry!” She gasped, her voice coming out girlish and embarrassed. “Clumsy of me. So sorry, ma’am.” The kalon drew her gold cloak around her, eyeing Irene with suspicion, then disdain, then indifference.

“It’s all right,” she drawled. “Enjoy your night, miss.” The dismissal was clear in her tone, and bare breaths later she was striding onward, cutting her way through the throng.

Irene’s paws moved, concealed beneath her cloak, fingering the object she’d slipped from the other’s bag.

She smiled.

Where is it?

Helene felt a bolt of panic, cleaving through her sense of calm triumph. Her paws dipped into her bag. Knife. Coins. Gloves. No, no, it wasn’t there. The amulet was gone.

Images flashed through her mind- a passing shove, a harried blue-cloaked girl. Mismatched eyes, like her own in both color… and intent. With sudden clarity, she understood. Another thief, like her, had stolen it from under her nose. She was torn between admiration and anger.

The matter of her payment had just gotten a lot more complicated.
