kennel: Felicity’s Kennelsname: Ruth
sex: female
prompt: A major impact on Ruth’s life? Why, meeting Felicity of course. The young woman rescues cats, has two family dogs, and helps people train their dogs, but hasn’t got any dogs in the actual kennel yet. Now, the kennel is just newly built, which explains that. Ruth met Felicity and immediately thought the deep blue streaks in the blonde woman’s hair were of interest. Felicity loves this little Boer right back, too. Ruth also has seen the pony Felicity’s son owns, and the new bunnies the daughtter’s 4h project rabbit had. Lot bunnies, but cute bunnies. It’s all new and interesting, and Ruth especially likes Nike and Athena, the dogs, as well as Johan, the cat.

prompt:
There's a lot of things a city can show you. If you're on the good side of it, it can show you power and wealth that only money can provide. But if you're on the humble, broken-down side of things, you get a bit of a perspective change. Abel however has been on both sides. Once a powerful show dog champion in his prime now a loveable idiot with a handsome collar.
And you know something? Abel never realized how nice it was to play the idiot so well. Not when he's praised for nothing more than a trick or two.
You see, it all started some time after an enormous dog show up in New York City. His old owner was packing, getting them ready for another one. Abel had been tired of shows, was tired of living such a life. After shows he was typically offered up for services like a toy. It was exhausting and being a show dog would always leave Abel alone.
He's been a show dog since puppyhood and wanted nothing more than to be a regular dog. He envied them greatly. No expectations, no real rules. Just happiness and an owner who cares. When Abel looked at his owner he couldn't tell if he even knew he was a real dog or not.
But one day his owner took him for a walk in the quiet but busy streets of Manhattan. Wealth and opulence were in every window, every dog who walked down these streets was a pedigree, pure as snow. Abel had never liked snow. But on this particular day with his owner's nose buried in a phone and Abel "leading", the Boer spaniel had a very bold thought. A very bold one indeed.
A nearby taxi driver was smoking a cigarette, his back seat door wide open to the public should someone desire a ride. And perhaps, Abel thought, the drive would be long enough to get him away from here. But he had to be smart about this. The trick was simple.
As his owner let him lead, Abel led him to the car. The taxi driver, mistook him as a customer which suited Abel just fine. While his owner's attention on the driver trying to negate said facts, in his gestures he managed to let go of the lead.
Knowing of his owner's habit to getting excitable while in an argument, Abel quietly slid inside of the open car as the two fussed and argued. Smugly, he watches the two argue as humans in New York often do before the taxi driver slammed the door shut.
The sight of his owner's face as the taxi driver drove off and he finally noticed his prize winning show dog was in the backseat was priceless.
And in the end, he thinks as he feels his human companion's fingers combing through his fur while the other dogs play in the cafe after hours, he doesn't think he did too badly in taking a shot in the dark.

Arabella was just a small pup when it had happened, though she still remembers it clear as day as though it had just happened yesterday. The back door in her owners house had been left cracked open one afternoon and the ever curious pup she was, she wandered out of it with no hesitation, stumbling into backyard and looking around with excitement, completely new to the outside world. She had found a crack in the fencing that lined her owners back yard and bam! She was off!
She wandered off into the woods behind her owners house, attracted by the scent of other animals and fresh flowers. She had explored the woods for hours upon hours, amused by butterflies and squirrels, eating fresh berries newly dropped from bushes. Though, it had began to get dark and she had found herself lost, scared as the shadows of trees turned into big scary predators in her mind. She ran through the leaves and grass, nearly tripping over herself a few times until she had found the tall fence once more.
Her owners were outside calling her name and she practically leaped up onto them when they noticed her in front of her feet. She had missed them so much, what had she been thinking going out like that alone. To this day she is still scared of going outside by herself, not wanting to lose her owners like that ever again.
