xWHAT IS A FLIT? wrote:Shadow Flitz (Singular; Shadow Flit) are a long bodies species that have long since lost their hind legs, tail, and eyes to the power of the shadow and have replaced them with mold-able wispy appendages. these large, friendly beasts have been recently tamed to be ridden by humans and anthros alike. They have large, wide front paws, long pointed ears, and short, smooth fur. They can be naturally found in dark caves, wetlands, or thick forests. however have also been spotted in pastures while hunting. They are carnivores- meaning they are only meant to eat meat and they often prey on birds, deer, rodents, and bats.
Pretty happy with the color scheme of this one.
Their horns were inspired by this
funky nut.Tell me about how they grew up in the wild west! (500 words max)

Niko's youth was tougher than he would have hoped for. He grew up in a small civilisation out in the sticks. Although there was nothing to do there ––but let's not forget to mention he lived in a large group of around 50 other Flits with 13 young brothers and sisters. There was never downtime and there was always at least two games running if he ever got bored. Yes, it was great having a big family to keep him company. But you have to feed those 50 mouths once a day, and it would have been a lot easier for everyone, especially younger flits if the humans had a proper system. Once a day at sun-high the humans would toss in a small amount of assorted goods and the older, bigger flits would always get their share first while everyone else scrabbled desperately trying to feed. Niko was one of the youngest of the group and this made it especially hard for him as his siblings were quite competitive. He would have had an advantage in the wild as he had large wings and small, quick legs, but the humans didn't exactly like them running around outside. This made him quite scrawny until his adulthood. His newest brothers had been playing roughly a bit too close to the gate when one fell through one of the holes, giving them the perfect chance to escape from their home. A very fat Niko now lives on his own outside a different small town where he is much happier and snatches food whenever he pleases.
This boi is very cute! :3

I grew up in a quiet, old, town. For quite a while, the most exciting thing to happen was a big ol' dust devil and tumbleweeds racing across the dusty roads. The town was quiet and small, we didn't have much to do. There was a shady saloon and a petite Sheriff's Office. We got our foods and goods from a nearby town, in return for giving them some of our land. We had rich dirt, it was fine for making good crops, but we never had the water for it. I remember growing up as the only child, I had no one to play with besides the sickly twins that belonged to Mrs. Harris and a twig I found and named Sticky. My father wasn't around much, he was the sheriff of our feeble town, yet he worked shifts in the neighboring town due to the abundance of crime there. For his efforts, we got a limited amount of water. Just enough to drink some for each meal, but far from enough for our crops. As I aged, I began to question why our town helped others and got little to nothing in return. My father retired, and our town was desperate. We had no Sheriff to go do what my father did, so we slowly ran out of water, and then we realized we had given up so much of our land for food, that we had no more land to give. I decided to take initiative. I was in my teen years when I decided I would take the issue into my own hands. My family disliked what I decided on, but it made a decent stack of cash each time I did my job successfully. I was a bounty hunter. I went to our neighboring town and took a job at their Sheriff's office, and soon enough I was set off on a mission each day, and for each wanted flit I brought to them, I was paid a decent amount of money. I had enough money to buy myself a new outfit, a black smokey hat and a black duster with a bandolier over my shoulders and my trusty rope attached to my hip. I became a feared and infamous bounty hunter. I took multiple jobs a day, and racked up money and resources, which I generously donated to my small town. I wanted to return home, but I couldn't ever risk putting my family and home in danger. As hard as it was, I stayed away and continued to help my old town, they deserve to live without poverty and hunger.
I had a new life, I was a new me.
