Euphorian Thoroughbred #E012

Postby gr3ystones » Thu Aug 22, 2019 4:37 am

Welcome to the Fallen Oaks Farm event!
It is here that an illegal Euphorian Thoroughbred breeding operation was shut down by local authorities. All of the mares, stallions, and of age foals are in need of homes. There will also be some mares that still have their foals that need to be taken care of. Euphorian lovers from all over have come together to get homes for all of the animals. They've brought giant trailers and are ready and waiting to bring home a bunch of new faces. But before adopting, they must visit the trailer parking site.

Barn Name: Nakima
Age: 4
Discipline: Show Jumping
Halter: Green
Memorable Moment:
It had been raining heavily a few hours before Nakima figured out how to open the gate to the paddock she was in. She wasn't quite sure how it had happened, but one moment it was closed, the next it was open, and she was free. She stepped out cautiously, shaking the water from her mane and daintily trying to avoid the large mud puddles the rain had left behind. After a moment, she realized the implications of what the gate being open meant, and disregarded the mud in favor of racing away from the ramshackle paddock.
Nakima was headed to what would soon become her least favorite spot, the reason she rarely ever tried to escape the paddock anymore. But she didn't know that, and so she obliviously continued on to the swollen stream, prancing dangerously close to the edge of the swirling water. Oddly overconfident, she stepped into the water in a shallow area, not realizing that beneath the surface of the water, a plethora of thick roots and heavy stones were waiting for her, ready to catch on her inexperienced hooves and trip her up. She continued into the water, miraculously avoiding the death trap below. And then, she placed her hoof on a loose stone just poking from the water, and it rolled down the bank, into deeper water. Nakima lost her balance and would have been able to regain it, had she not made almost the same mistake by taking another step into the water. Her momentum carried her forward and her leg got caught in a root, and for just a moment, she was leaning out over the water as her small foreleg held the weight of her body against the root. Then the root her hoof was caught on gave in, and she collapsed into the water with a loud whinny of fear and pain. Her outcry caught the attention of some of the other horses in the paddock, including her dam, who thundered to her and helped pull her from the water. The instance left Nakima deeply afraid of water, and she often balks when her jumps include water.

Barn Name: Autumn
Age: 2 years old
Discipline: Dressage
Halter: Autumn themed please:)
Memorable Moment: Anyone could see that Fallen Oaks Farm was in complete disarray. Everyone had noticed how badly the barn looked; it was basically ready to crumble. What many people overlooked was the abysmal condition of the paddock areas. It was easy to miss, as makeshift pens had been set up instead to hold the rescued horses. The fences had decent sized holes within them that would easily allow foals to slip out of their pastures, but the mares were unable to follow their babies. This is how Autumn got herself into danger.

It was normal at this point for the foals to slip out and play with each other if they were lucky enough to have the opportunity to go outside. One little colt would often round up the other foals, asking them to play. They would all slip out through the holes in the fences that the barn workers were too lazy to repair, and go have some fun. It had all become routine, and even the mares had become less worried about the playful antics of their babies.

However, one night, something was different, and the foals and mares were none the wiser. One of the resident stallions had been acting out more excessively than normal that day. The cruel worker handling him simply let him go in order to save himself from injury. The stallion didn’t go far, but he went to the tree line at the edge of the property where there’s a huge meadow. There, he spent a few hours alone, grazing peacefully, unbothered by the abusive humans.

As the sun sank down over the horizon, the foals could hear the sounds of car tires screeching away from the property. They all waited until they were sure it was safe to wander out, and then they all gathered to play. The youngers all romped around, chasing each other, until eventually arriving at the tree line of the property. They loved to play here since there was so much open space, and the forest beyond the tree line was fun to explore. They were unaware of the unusual guest that had been in that area all day, who would not be happy with so many foals intruding on his new territory.

A mighty screech echoed through the night. Each foal froze, eyes wide, wondering what it could be. The stallion came charging through the middle of the group of foals, ears flat against his skull, jaws snapping. All the little ones tried to run, but Autumn was the unfortunate foal to be caught in the fray. The stallion had so much rage and fear built up from the abuse he had received from the humans that he was now taking it out on a poor, defenseless baby. He repeatedly bit into her flank, kicked out at her, and once even picked her up, tossing her through the air. Autumn laid there terrified, the wind knocked out of her. Her chest was heaving .

Suddenly, another high pitched squeal boomed across the property. Autumn looked over, and saw her mother. The other foals alerted the mares about the incident, and she had jumped the fence to go protect her filly. The large mare barreled towards the stallion, knocking into him, throwing him off balance and into the dirt. She stood over Autumn and snorted, aggressively pawing and snapping at the stallion. The stallion snorted, and then took off away from the brave mare.

The mare licked Autumn to make sure she was ok, and then guided her back to their pasture. The filly was alright, somehow, but only physically. Mentally, she was far from it. She was utterly panicked, and could not calm down. She was easily spooked for weeks after, and was extremely hesitant to leave her mother’s side after the ordeal. She still struggles sometimes with being around other horses, especially males, but once she warms up to them, she is often ok.

Barn Name: Idalia
Age: 4 (when fully grown)
Discipline: Western Pleasure
Halter: Champagne (#F7E7CE)
Memorable Moment:
"The moon as many phases. Sometimes all of it is visible, sometimes there is nothing at all. It can even be seen as half, and even a quarter, and a small crescent."

"What's the moon like momma? What color?"

"Well," The young, thin mare looked off, as of trying to search through her earliest memories, " There were times it was a beautiful white, but I can remember seeing it really yellow before."

"Wow, it changes colors?!? Cool!" Idalia squeaked, causing some of the other more lethargic mares and foals to look condescendingly in her direction. Her mother sighed, pulling her foal closer to her side. The windowless barn had gone eerily silent after that, the air full with unspoken questions and comments.

"Idalia?" Her mother whispered.

"Yes, momma?" Idalia yawned, laying down and leaning against her mother's back leg.

"I want you to see the moon one day. Do you think you can do that for me?"

"Of course momma! We can go see it together!"

Idalia's mother smiled, tears filling her eyes. Idalia could see her mother was in a state of disarray emotionally; but being only a foal, she didn't understand the weight of her mother's words. Little did she know that her mother would not be seeing the moon with her, but as she is now being pulled from the dark barn and away from her mother's empty silhouette, she looks up at the moon.

It's yellow.

Memorable Moment:
Hope remembered playing with a young bay colt, his name was Blue. Blue was weak and sick due to his lost of a mother, and his step-mom wasn't that kind.
-----------------
Hope is speaking..
-----------------
We ran so much, he was slower then most of the foals. He was so kind to everyone, even though he was picked on the most by the yearlings. We would play in the mud after it rained. We would play tag, hide and seek, you name it! I loved him as a little brother, I miss him a lot. After playing, it started to storm. We were far away from our mothers, and all the other horses. I started to run, thunder was scary. I forgot how he was slow, I forgot how weak he was, but I still ran. The rain was pouring. As I ran to my mother's side, I didn't see him come. After, that I didn't see him again. I miss him a lot, Mom said "He is in a better place now, my lovely. He isn't in this horrible place no more." I didn't understand what she meant, but I'm happy that Blue is in a better place then us. I just hope he comes and brings me with him to that better place.

Show Name: Meadow's Whisper
Barn Name: Sunflower
Age: (when fully grown) 3 years
Discipline: Dressage
Halter: Turquoise
Memorable Moment: Sunflower's most memorable moment was when she was barely a few days old. She was born to a high class show stallion and mare. Sunflower could remember meeting her father for the first time in her short life. She was in the meadow with her mother as she was grazing. Sunflower kept teasing her mother, nipping at her hocks, causing her mother to swish her tail in her face playfully. This play lasted for a few minutes before Sunflower's mother's attention seemed to go somewhere else. She looking in the direction her mother was looking. A large, elegant horse trailer pulled in the drive. It was an unfamiliar scent to Sunflower. Her ears perked in curiosity, but she was still cautious. Her mother, on the other hand, softly nickered and trotted over to the far side of the fence, near the trailer. Sunflower slowly followed. That's when sunflower saw a large elegant stallion, with fancy braids in his mane and tail trot over to the mare. The both exchanged soft whinnies and greetings. Sunflower's mother looked back at her and began beckoning her over. Sunflower became a little more comfortable knowing that her mother trusted this stallion. Sunflower began to register his scent. It soon became clear that this was Sunflower's father. Sunflower spent the day with the both of her parents for the first and last time in her life. Her father would tell her stories of his travels, his winnings, his losings. They would prance around in the field, playing with each other. They both shared the same graceful and elegant gaits. Sunflower and her father became very close that day. They were both upset when he had to leave, for yet another competition. Ever since then, she has longed to see her father again.
