Age (can exceed 1,000 years): 3,120
Height (can exceed 18 hh): 19.2hh
Prompt:
It was danger.
Alexander pranced next to the water, the smallest of banks crumbling beneath his feet steadily, little stones hitting the surface and creating what seemed like endless ripples. He had to get across, but the water! The water was everywhere, further than the eye could see. The lake, for that was what it was, was the biggest in the country that Alex called home, and it was his greatest fear.
Alexander actually hates the water. When he was a foal, there was a monsoon, and he almost drowned. The flood claimed his best friend, and ever since, he avoids it when he can.

"The Legend of Dead Man's Pass"
Humans are creatures of many things, yet they all seem to blend together. Creatures of habit, of lust, and of power among many more, yet they simply forgot we exist. A top these mountains is my home where once I was revered as a God to these mortal men. Now long forgotten my home is now called the Dead Man's Pass and I am just a ghost of legends. The foot of these hills are home to a village of these humans that are the descendants of the men I once mattered to. With the changing world everything seems different yet still there are few men of the village that pay respect to me as a God of the mountains at a shrine. In a way I simply am only a story, a child's fantasy tail to them, but it's enough for me. I live among them without issue.
Long before the humans turned me into a dark sky story I lived alongside them even helped these foolish creatures. Neymine is what I am called and my home had once been named the Blessing. That was before heavy rains washed the woven paths away. Soon years of worn paths in the mountains were swept away in a rush of water torrent and mudslides. I remember that very day that I had become forgotten and my home was never the same...
"The Beginning of the End"
Clouds of dark grey clustered in the sky overhead, a distant crackle of thunder shaking the world as it grew. Now it was going on the fourth day of rain with no breaks and water flowed down the mountains main foot path. I was keeping pace alongside several men from the village of Ginsine at the foot of the path. Today the air felt charged and ready to set a spark to ignite the building fire, yet these men trekked up the muddy path. Keeping to their left I listened to them as they spoke, their native tongue difficult for myself to understand much of their conversation. "It's not a day to travel these paths," I desperately tried to tell them through my own words, yet they shook their heads and joked as if I wasn't making sense.
Of the five there only the oldest seemed to sense my unease as he hushed his companions speaking kindly from what I could gather. He was a short old man, grey hair scarce atop his head yet plentiful upon his face. From what I've heard and the many times I've guided his travels I believe that he is named Dmiteris Song. Kind as Dmiteris is, he is still a man with no knowledge of these mountains as I do.
About thunder boomed with the opening of the clouds as heavy rain drowned out their mundane conversations. Along my spine I could feel the electric in the air and stomped angrily at the ground pushing through the mud to stand in front of the group. Angry words fell weakly to my ears through the rain as they clearly became displeased as I halted their journey. "I cannot let you continue this foolish journey! These rains will make this treacherous you must turn back!" I screamed rearing and hitting the ground, my footing failing me from the mud.
Hitting the ground with a heavy thump I lifted my head watching the men pleading with my eyes. Perhaps they may not understand words, but my actions must mean something to them. Thick mud hung to my coat as I struggled to stand in the mud. I was tired, body heaving to keep up from the long journey it had already been. Hanging my head I felt defeated as I realized these men would not listen as I lay in the mud.
Beside me Demetris had brought himself to my side touching my nose as if I were one of the simple horses they raised in the village. Naturally I'dhave pulled away, but this time I found comfort from the old man as he gestured for the others to continue while he stays back. As the rain falls I find that I can no longer stop these foolish men and I hang my head at the realization they will die. This is not something I think, but is something I know. These mountains are unforgiving even in the right conditions, but now they make a death trap that even I can not protect against.
I watch them leave with Dmiteris still at my side the rain rolling off of us as we sit soaked to the bone. I realize as these four men leave to surely persish. I am no God. To these men or the men in the village I am simply a creature with false power.
"I Am No God"
I do not find my footing until Dmitries urges me to stand the weight of what I discovered hitting me hard. "Neymine," I hear him speak as my head lifts from the mud, "You must get up."
Struggling even with the man's assistance I finally stand letting the rain wash mud from my coat. I have no knowledge of how long it has been, but there's a sickening feeling rising within me. The rain has calmed down to a steady drizzle as I look around unfamiliar with my own surroundings. We are not where we where when I remember, instead we are much further down the mountain and I see the village. Blinking with confusion I look to Dmitries to realize he is not there, instead his cloak is tied around my neck with his bag secured to it.
I made this journey down the mountain I come to realize. I come to realize it was done alone. Staggering forward I feel exhaustion pull on me as i trek to the village where the smallest of sunlight shines through a break in the clouds. Pushing forward I see several people gather as I near, two on horses that approach and box me in in both sides. The crowded feeling stirs unease on me, but I push forward to the gate where I collapse to the mud starling the horse on my left. I watch with unease as a young man slides from his horse to take the contraption from my neck.
Watching I see him pull a note from the bag, unrolling it and beginning to read. I do not understand what this man says besides hearing if Dmitries's name. It is only as I see the crestfallen faces build among those gathered I feel my stomach twist and drop and then I feel nothing.
To my family and friends I write on borrowed time. The rains are much worse than we believed they'd be when we set out. Yuron, Grendel, Spraug, and Finnick have gone ahead while I sit south Neymine. I now realize he'd been warning us and we blindly ignored him, but this mountain pass isn't safe. I fear a mudslide will come soon and with it we will not return home alive. I send Neymine back with this message to bring news of what has become of us and to heed this stallion as our protector.
We cannot ignore this creature for he is not a God, only a creature of nature like us. Take care of him.
Dmitries Song's last words.
"A Memory Best Left Alone"
Rain is water from the heavens brought to us from the higher gods, yet a deadly force. I remember those men that perished that last time I'd taken men up in such conditions. Many have come to believe I am afraid of the water, yet that is not the least bit true. I am afraid of myself, of the poor judgment of men, and the truth. Water is simply an aspect of nature that is dangerous when left without care. It can give and take the very thing the world contains and that is life. I respect water as if its truly a God as I have discovered long ago I am no god myself.
