Beach story:
Phaedra was lost all on her own in the forest just south of the dark-shadowed mountains jutting from the ground. The sun was just starting to peak over the horizon illuminating the forest in a startling glow as the rays caught on the morning dew. The ken's wings were sore with all the flapping she'd done to get out of a storm that deposited her here. Ignoring the protests of her muscles as she took off again the slopes of stone and trees giving way to swaths of sand as she continued. If she could see her own face she was sure there would be an expression of pure shock playing across it. It was hard to believe there was this much water in the world, as the humans had confined Phae to a little cage with a tiny bowl of water for most of her life. Curiosity got the better of her and she banked towards the ground her paws sinking into the sand on contact. She couldn't help but squeak in surprise and jump flapping her wings to send her a few paces away. Her paws sank into the gravel again and she calmed her urge to jump into the sky again accepting that this must've been what the ground was supposed to do. Phaedra crept towards the water cautiously the loud crashing noise of the waves filling the silence. The curious ken had no interest in getting soaked by the, surprisingly salty, water and ran away from the waves as they surged up the beach only to chase the retreating water as it returned to the sea. Phaedra repeated this process playing and splashing around in the water all day happily cooing as she collected shells and tormented crabs. As the day began to come to a close, the dinoken retreated to one mountain taking up residence in a cave facing the beach. That day they decided that the beach would be a wonderful place to live and Phaedra founded the flock of the rising sun which lives in the mountain to this day.
