Nothing beats the calm presence of a horse who is at home in the mountains, the trust you can place in them as much as they place in you on a daily basis. Sure, riding in the ring or on the boarding property requires trust, but when you find your horse feels more comfortable somewhere else, the happiness is all the more pronounced.
