He approaches slowly, so as not to scare her away. The mare notices him, and Abner tosses his head proudly, raising to his strong hind legs, and powerfully strikes at the air with his front. The mare seems impressed, so Abner prances around her, occasionally pawing at the ground.
The mare looks at Abner with excitement in her eyes. He invites her with a shake of his head to a race - a final chance to impress this gorgeous mare. They both take off at a gallop with neither quite able to get the upper-hand over the other until the very end when Abner just barely pulls away.
Out of breath and their hearts racing, Abner waits a short distance away to see if the mare will choose to follow him.
