When something bad happens to someone you love, it's hard to understand. When Scarlett began to lose all of her memories, Winnie did everything she could to understand why. Being the lighthearted person that she is, she just wanted Scarlett to see the bright side of everything, to focus on the good things. But Winnie wasn't in the situation. She couldn't force her dearest friend to do anything, especially force her to be happy during such a difficult time in her life. So Winnie did what she knew best, she remained optimistic.
"Good morning! How's she doing today?" Winnie asked, flopping her large bag onto the desk to be checked by a security officer. "She's having a bit of a rough morning, she couldn't remember who I was when I came in with her medicine. She's still upset." Jill was Scarlett's nurse in the care facility she was living in, who specialized in early onset dementia. "Hopefully this will help," Winnie patted her bag and picked it back up, starting down the hall, straight to room A14. Over the last 6 months, she hadn't missed a single day.
She knocked gently on the door, before pushing it open and peeking inside. Scarlett was sitting on her bed, knees to her chest, and face buried out of sight. "Hey there, dearest." Winnie whispered, setting her bag in a chair and walking over to touch Scarlett's leg. At the feeling of something touching her, Scarlett let out a sharp gasp and scrambled backward into the corner of the bed. Winnie smiled. "It's just me, it's ok." Scarlett looked at the face of someone who seemed so familiar, yet she couldn't quite determine who it was. It was somewhere, but nothing she did could tempt it to come out. "It's alright if you can't remember right now, I brought some things that might help." Winnie picked up her bag and opened it up. Inside were small trinkets from Scarlett's old apartment - her favorite mug, a necklace she used to never go a day without wearing, and a tiny ceramic white rabbit. At the sight of the little figurine, Scarlett's confusion began to melt. "Winnie," she whispered, reaching out to hold it. "I'm so sorry... I just - can't remember. It hurts my head to try to figure it out and it hurts my heart not to. But I remember you, now, you're Winnie... You bought me this rabbit when we went on a trip." Winnie's heart fluttered. "That's right! You remembered!" Scarlett nodded, but tears filled her eyes. "Why is it so hard?" She burst into tears, curling back into a ball. Winnie reached out and grabbed her hand. "You used to always tell me that whenever things get too difficult, it's ok to ask for help." Scarlett looked up, tears still streaming down her face. "Please... Help me." Winnie sat on the bed beside her. "I will always be here when you need me, no matter the circumstances and no matter the cost."

When it happened the first time, neither had been prepared to say goodbye. How do you say goodbye to your best friend,
who's been there for every part of your life? The one who's been your shoulder to cling to in the dark. Who sings dumb
infomercials like they're Broadway musicals and cheers you up even when she's gotten beat up herself.
How do you just... leave?
For you, there hadn't been an option. Not at the time. You were both in high school, seniors at that, ready to go and
leave your mark on the world. But that world had been divided when she told you "I'm not going to college." And all
your carefully made plans, the ones where you'd both go out and see everything the world had to offer, just vanished.
Like smoke and mirrors.
Like nothing.
You'd recall being angry. Hurt even.
You were best friends!
What did she mean she wasn't going?!
You tried to understand, tried to plead and beg because now that she wasn't going, you weren't so certain you were
ready at all. And when the day came for you to go...you tried to be brave. She took you to the airport with your
family and there were tears. You held on tight to each other, best friends forever. Right?
Right.
It wasn't an easy adjustment. In fact, you downright hated your first year alone and could only find solace in the
phone calls you both had weekly. It wasn't the same, but it was better than nothing. And as time went on it went
to be the only stable thing you had. Talking to each other was comforting. You knew how much she missed you,
could hear it in her voice as she told you about her day. Not going to college has its own set of rules and you feel
bad at the selfish part of you that wants to hear about it. That's still angry about being apart. But the rest of you
misses your best friend so much more. When you tell her about your exams and the fears you have, the ones that
make sleeping seem worthless and the 10 page paper in your hands is nearly crumpled in stress, she evens your
breathing with stories and memories you both have bottled up and it soothes that tight breaking feeling inside
your stomach.
In the end, you both compromised because, as she said, you were best friends. And Best Friends Forever at that.
Even when you live such strange and different lives. It's a haphazard plan, anything could go wrong, but you both
agree to it anyway, like when you were children. You picked a place first. Anywhere she'd said. New Orleans, you'd
breathed into the receiver of a red plastic phone in a phone booth, smoothing out the edges of your black dress.
The night had been high and there was crackling before a chuckle came through the phone. "For Mardi Gras?"
"Yeah."
"Heh okay."

Sisters or bffs?:
SistersWhat's a problem they've faced and overcame together?:
Briar and her sister Dahlia were walking through a field of roses, when a voice called, “Briar! Briar! Your letter is here.” Dahlia looked at her sister in confusion, “What letter? What’s it for?” she said, puzzled. “Oh, it’s nothing! Why don’t you run into the meadow and play while I deal with this.” Dahlia sighed, and ran off. Briar quickly heads off to the voice and retrieves the letter, which states that she had been approved for university housing. Now to tell Dahlia. Briar was unsure of how Dahlia would react, but she told herself, “She will likely be happy to finally have stuff to herself!” Meanwhile... Dahlia arrived in the meadow and laid beside an old willow tree. She wondered what Briar was hiding. After a while, she stood up and headed back to the barn. Once she got there, she was approached by Briar. “Hey sis! Can you sit down for a minute?” Dahlia nodded. “So, you know the letter I got? Well it’s for university housing.” Dahlia frowns, a confused look on her face. “You mean you’re getting your own stall for the local university? That’s cool.” Briar pauses, then shakes her head. “No, it’s not for the local university, and I am getting my own stall, but not here. I got accepted to Hare-verd and I got housing at a place called Evergreen Farms.” Dahlia stops, and looks at the ground. “So, your leaving? When?” she says. Briar says, “I leave in a week, but hey, you won’t have to share with me anymore!” Dahlia chuckles, but then a solemn look spreads across her face. “Well, do you want help packing?” Briar feels a bit relieved at Dahlia’s reaction, she thinks Dahlia doesn’t mind at all. But that really isn’t the case. Dahlia and Briar head to the barn and start to pack Briar’s items. They joke and laugh about memories but suddenly Dahlia begins to quiet down. “You okay lil’ sis?” With a hint of anger Dahlia cries, “No! I’m not okay? First you act so chill about all of this, but your leaving me!? We have never been apart for so long and you’re all I have! Mom and dad are rarely around, and you’re just going to go off to your little university to be a stupid lawyer. You don’t think I’m going to miss you? You’re my sister, you’re my best friend! I don’t want you to go, but I know you need to.” Briar looks at her sister, and a tear rolls down her dark tired eyes. “I know. But I’m going to miss you to Dahlia. You are my sister and I love you. It’s hard for me to leave you. But this is going to bring opportunities we never had before. I promise that I will always visit you and the farm, I will not gone forever.” They look at one another solemnly, and embrace each other. Through tears, Dahlia knows that her sister is doing what’s best.Writing by ➷.River.➷

Ro had always lived a life filled with storm clouds. Or at least, her luck was such that it felt that way more often than not. Ro was gloom incarnate; darkened clouds of pessimism that wrapped themselves under the guise of minor misfortune. Not Fae though. Fae had always kept her from getting too lost in her own tempest. Bright and vibrant where Ro was dull and withdrawn, Fae helped keep her balanced. If Ro was a rain cloud, then Fae was sunlight incarnate.
That's why, when they were torn apart, Ro felt lost and confused. Well, that and the wind, she supposed. She'd never felt wind that strong before. Honestly when she'd first lifted off into the air, she'd half wondered if those stories about alien abduction were true. Thankfully, both hooves were now on the ground and, as far as she could remember, she'd encountered no aliens. She was battered and a little bruised, but no worse for wear over all. After taking note of this, her thoughts immediately reoriented, centering around her finding her sister.
Two peas in a pod, it felt wrong to be separated from her in general, let alone when she had no idea where Fae even was. Or if she was even okay. Thinking like that set a cold panic in her heart. The longer she looked with no sign of her sister, the deeper the panic spiked. It spiraled deeper and deeper, sending her into a more and more frantic state. The dark cow didn't know how long she searched. Each minute dragged on into it's own little eternity; it could've been hours or mere minutes of pushing through rubble and sticking her nose into every dark corner, hoping, praying that the next sight would be her sister's familiar smile.
The night came and went. Dawn touched the horizon and she'd still found nothing. Yet, something had indeed found her. Romaine had all but collapsed on the fringes of the farm, exhausted from her search, when something barreled into her, distracting her from the despair that had settled around her. It wasn't until she saw those silly, perfect ears that she understood. Unbridled joy spiked through her, knocking away her usually gloomy demeanor with a wave of relief.
Fae was here! Fae had found her! Fae was safe!
Twin laughters rose up from them both as Romaine pressed up against her sister - who had predictably started blabbering through the story of her own search. The darker cow didn't mind. In fact, after it all, her sister's familiar babble was comforting. For the first time since those winds had pulled them apart, Ro felt whole. She felt safe. She felt loved.

what's a problem they've faced and overcame together?:Their rooms were silent- a silence so deafening for the two young girls who had lived surrounded by constant noise their entire life. The screams of their parents echoing in thier minds, and the sight of shattered glass etched into any memories they held. They had learned to sleep through the noise, but now… The silence was too painful to bear.
Bramble flipped over on her side, her mouth opening slightly as she whispered, “I am glad you are here.”
Her whispers fell on deaf, nonexistent ears.
Nyela couldn’t sleep. The silence was driving her mad, making her blood pressure only skyrocket further. She sat there huddled in the corner of her empty room, her eyes dancing where another bed used to sit once upon a time. She could remember it clearly: the large pink and white floral comforter, with fluffy fur pillows. Nyela was never a fan of pink, but Bramble was, and secretly, she missed the obnoxious color.
Bramble was always at her father’s side, helping him weed the gardens and do minor landscaping projects. Nyela enjoyed watching the grey and white heifer stumble alongside their father, struggling to keep the tools in the bucket she carried for him. Nyela wanted so badly to learn woodcraft and gardening, but Bramble seemed so naturally talented at it, and Nyela lost hope in ever obtaining the skills her younger sibling had. She wished with all her heart that she could have had the same closeness with her father as her younger sister, but now, there was no hope.
Nyela was attached to her mother’s hip, learning every single recipe and life lesson, and reciting it until she remembered it by heart. Bramble had always wondered how Nyela could store all that information and envied her older sister for having a memory like no other. She was highly revered at school, known for being one of the most intellectual heifers in her class. Nyela could ace a class no problem, while Bramble struggled in some of her courses. Their mother seemed to only care for her, and Bramble found herself in the presence of her father to combat her loneliness.
The day her parents had finally split was the release the family needed. Years of arguments and broken promises dangling on that last piece of thread connecting them had finally snapped. Both girls can remember vividly the arguments between them, both trying to pull the other to their side. It had been settled that Bramble would move in with her father, while Nyela stayed with thier mother, tucked away in that empty old room.
Though the split was tough, the two try their hardest to keep in touch through text. Wirth Bramble being so far away, it was rare that the two could ever meet up. But love never fades, no matter how far the distance. So, every night, as the two lay down, they gaze up at the same moon, knowing that deep down, the other is doing the same.

The two small eared sisters

When Luci and Joselyn were calfs around three months their ears were quite small " Our ears are quite small aren't they Joselyn" said Luci. "It's what makes us unique Luci, but just so you know other will think we may look -different-" muttered Joselyn. Little did they know that all the kids and teenagers would tease them how small their ears were, "I thought our ears were supposed to be cute" exclaimed Luci through tears. They hated it more than anything, they were alone other than each other and they didn't mind that. They loved their ears though, thought they were the perfect size for their bodies. Every night they would hold each other or talk to make it all better, snuggling was their favorite thing to do when they were sad. Every night after hours of talking and laughing they would snuggle up to each other and feel much much better. They dreamed and dreamed of bigger ears, as big elephants, they would even sleep talk sometimes, "Wow.....Big...Ears" sighed Joselyn. They thought their ears were getting bigger by the day, but dismissed it as just too much hopping.
This happened for around five months until someone who teased them said their ears were "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". Confused Joselyn and Luci asked what that meant she responded, "Your ears look extraordinarily wonderful". They asked why and got the response of, "They are perfect length", Luci shed a tear smiling because she finally had the ears she wanted, so did Joselyn. They spent the whole day just screaming and yelling, "We have big ears" and "look at our ears". The ears were to their jawline neck and they loved it. "I dreamed and wished for these ears" squeals Luci. They yelled and ran for hours on end until their little legs gave up, except during the night Joselyn stayed up just looking at her ears and smiling. She finally slept and had great dreams about being popular because of her ears. She woke up the next morning to Luci just staring, Joselyn asked what was wrong and she said, "Your ears look bigger" Joselyn dismissed it as Luci forgetting their ear size.
Months later Joselyn's ears were doubled in size. They teased her again except for Luci and she was in the same spot as before. She decided to pierce her ears, when she arrived they pierced her ears but offered her a free matching tail piercing and she said yes. The next day when she walked into town everyone was so in aw about the piercing they forgot about the length of her ears. She wished she didn't pierce her ears because she loved her ears.

hello everyone! after some deliberation with dyno, we've both come to a mutual decision on the winners! once again, thank you to everyone who participated, your forms were all very lovely and those of you who did art did beautifully!!
winners:
neondisaster & lovestruck!
congrats! we both loved how deep this story was, and how you tied your form's coding (specifically the text color) into their dialogue, that was a brilliant idea. we both really felt their strong connection and characters through your form, and loved how it was emotional but not too much so! congratulations to the both of you ♥
